Another new Pard…..

The 35 does look excellent , I’ve still gone for a 008 LRF simply because it’s going on a bullpup and wanted to stay away from scope form factor. Otherwise I would have grabbed one👍🏻
Yes the NV008S models still has appeal for a super compact all in one unit, even more so for tiny bullpup guns..

I’ve used every bit of digital night vision kit on the market, so trust me when I say the DS35 is an excellent all in one piece of kit, even more so for airgun and rimfire users, you will never please everyone , some will want to slate a product without owning it, others will pick at the slightest issues as being a life or death scenario ..

Out of 100+ DS35 units sold , 2 units had a plastic lens cap that came loose …. Let’s get serious , it’s hardly life or death… is it ? Pard will resolve that, if it is an issue on some ..

You have some Alpex units that have reverted to default settings, C50 units that can lock up, all digital can have a niggles..

I own a DS35 personally, if it was poor I would not entertain one….. in the new year, I’ll be creating a video of the product and sharing real time hunting footage alongside , of this great NV scope in action ..
I agree two max 3 lens caps that have fallen off does , seem very isolated case.

I've edited/compiled and uploaded to YouTube part #1 of my first few pest control sessions ratting with the PARD DS35-70RF, mounted on the AirMaks Arms Krait.

I used the onboard IR on level #1 (max range was 37m), and both base mag & 2x zoom. Once that's been Reviewed I'll publish it and share the link here.

Meanwhile I'll start editing part #2/#2 at dawn, which is a longer single 90 minute ratting session within a rubbish tip, courtesy of a kind invite from Stuart of @Vermin Control Scotland channel.

Hopefully this will be of interest.
Cheers. Russ

Good evening all, my latest PARD DS35-70RF review video just went live... this is a shortish compilation of three pest control sessions in a local permission, controlling rat numbers to protect harvested crops.
All filmed in total darkness.

Admins, hope this is ok - I'll move it if need-be?

CAUTION: INCLUDES PEST CONTROL FOOTAGE
(though all NV / B&W)

Cheers. Russ

Cheers Russ 😁👍 watched the entire thing from start to finish already and can't wait for the next one 👌

I keep thinking I'm done with digital night vision until another scope comes out 😂 this does look extremely good though 😁

Reported my cap issue to Pard, they seem unaware of it being an issue, suggested I contact the retailer, which I’d already done (Awaiting a replacement cap from Blackwoods) Reason for this post is it seems that it’s not a common fault, hopefully affecting just a very small percentage of us 🤞🏻

What other cases have you heard about , any links ? Have you got a pic we can see ?

Just want to check mine now 😁
There was another on this forum whom commented the same. It seems to be the clips are quite fragile, hopefully not a fatal design flaw, just affecting a small percentage. First pic is mine, second pic is from Pard on how the clips should be:

Thank you buddy , mine seems to be fine , but I can see how this could be a bit frustrating .

I’m confident that pard/blackwoods will sort that out as quick as poss .
I have had a couple of dealings with blackwoods and too be honest he was really good , in fact really good .

Just a shame it’s this time of year what with postal strikes and whatnot . I ordered some tuning parts from Huma air a week before Xmas , tracking shows it sitting in a sorting dept in the Netherlands , so it’s looking like mid jan before I get my grubby mitts on it ,that’s if Royal Mail have time of course .

Ian messaged me straight back and said he’ll get me a replacement sent out, just hoping it won’t take ages, strike and availability of parts………..

I know im going to be called a grouch here Russ, great vid and as usual very informative cant fault that but im not impressed with the image quality on the rats.
Ive just looked through some of my old ratting vids from when the first gen of 008’s came out and the image is far cleaner, and for me personally that round mask is just spoiling the playback.
Doesnt seem like theres been any advance in image quality in the best part of 4 years.

The problem as I see it is the plastic barbs (6 off) which hold the lens hood on crack - presumably during assembly. I inspected mine when it fell off and 4 of the 6 barbs where cracked (arrowed):

The problem is of course you can't check it because it's impossible to remove the hood because it's not possible to compress the barbs to release it, so you won't know if you've got a defective hood unless if falls off. If yours is tight I'd just accept all is good and enjoy using the scope. It is a cracking (no pun intended) piece of kit.

Yeah I know what your saying , mine seems ok atm.

I did think about taking it off ( if possible , not really looked tbh ) and putting a normal lens cap on it but I think I will leave well alone .
And yep it’s a great bit of kit and a superb edition to me M3 sniper .

I think the footage looks best unmasked so you see the full view from the DS35, rather than editing the circular view, depends on the individual though . Also the Inbuilt IR has immense throw allowing illumination out to 300yds plus…….. BUT on my testing I found an LED IR provided much more detail with the DS35 at distances under 150yards..
Even shoot and C targets with the LED you can view every line within the target… try it 👍

Shouldn't be long now - I've had my Pard DS35-70 back from Sportsman Gun Centre today.

Hi Ian

Given the RF is capable of 1000yds detection
Are you able to input current data over the zero data on setup regarding ballistic calculator
Can’t seem to find any information on this

Cheers
