Another new Pard…..

I know im going to be called a grouch here Russ, great vid and as usual very informative cant fault that but im not impressed with the image quality on the rats.
Ive just looked through some of my old ratting vids from when the first gen of 008’s came out and the image is far cleaner, and for me personally that round mask is just spoiling the playback.
Doesnt seem like theres been any advance in image quality in the best part of 4 years.
Have to agree. The new pard looks very grainy in comparison. My old 008p was similar until an update made it grainy, similar to whatthe new pardshows. They do seem to be going backwards a bit.

Ive been watching all these DS35 vids. Is there a reason to wait for the50 lens ? The 70 seems to do it all. Close range out to beyond airgun ranges.
I sold an 008S-LRF and ordered a DS35-70RF after reviewing it and hope to zero it on my M3 Sniper soon.

But I also hope to review the DS35-50RF soon, and see if its lower mag (4x/8x) and slightly wider FOV will be better for sub-12 pest control work.

Cheers. Russ

You and me both. 🤞🤞

Obviously with the integrated IR lamp SGC will have to get the DS35-50RF certified as compliant to British Standards, before they start selling them.

Hopefully I'll have another review up on my channel very soon.
All the best, cheers. Russ

I have faith , you will get hold of one within 2weeks and start testing .

The DS35-70 RF has already been tested and does not fall foul of any UK regulations, because there are no UK regulations or British Standards for the emissions produced by the IR illuminator
If PARD use the same IR in the DS35-50RF I don't see why it should need to be tested.

Cheers

Bruce

That is a very good point .

I'll finish editing my second DS35-70RF ratting video in the morning, upload it to YouTube for review, then hopefully publish it later tomorrow or on Monday.

...so then I'll be back to filming and editing reviews, for now at least.

Happy Hogmanay everyone, all the best for a Happy and Healthy 2023!
Cheers. Russ

All the very best Russ, and thanks to you and Bruce for all the reviews/ info.

Thanks very much bud, hopefully we'll have loads more coming in the New Year, starting with more thermal reviews.

In-between my recent PARD DS35-70RF NV ratting sessions I've also been reducing their numbers with the help of a Pulsar Thermion2 LRF XQ50 Pro.
Hopefully I'll also soon have a HIKMICRO Stellar SH50 thermal scope for comparitive review; should be fascinating.

All the best, cheers. Russ

Not before the Pard DS35-50 LRF you dont .:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

can where the lrf splash shows in the scope be adjusted,
it also seems to be long and picks up multiple points, always reads the closest,
can it be shortened to make it accurate

The physical location of the LRF splash 'might' be adjustable by the PARD techs at Sportsman Gun Centre, you'd have to enquire.
I very much doubt the length of the LRF splash can be adjusted though.

The issue of a longer (vertical) LRF splash potentially ranging items in the foreground (or background), is why I'd always wanted a horizontal LRF splash (woohoo thank-you PARD for changing to the horizontal LRF splash).

Cheers. Russ

with it being so long the lrf is not very accurate
it can pick up anything in the sight line, open field use only it looks like.
maybe a bit of tape either side of the emitter to shorten the splash:unsure:

Adjust the position of the targetting box so that it covers the centre of the laser splash and use the targetting box to get the range of whatever it is you need to know the distance of
The laser splash is no bigger than that found on Pulsar and HIK thermal spotter/scopes fitted with rangefinders.
The position of the targetting box can be adjusted as follows:
Do this at night so you can see the laser splash and have the scope in night mode
1. Open the Main Menu.
2. LONG Press of the Day/Night Button. This opens the targetting box adjustment menu
3. Press the turret to change between X and Y and adjust the X and Y values (and hence the position of the targetting box) by rotating the turret.
4. LONG Press of the turret to save

cheers,i adjusted the box center last night but have not tried it out in the field yet.
hopefully it makes it more accurate.
the splash is at 2 oclock on this one, literally on the 2,should it not be closer to the center

Sorry @redwolf but the emitter is tiny, just a few mm across. I've not found the LRF ranges to the closest object caught in the splash, more that it tends to measure to the centre of the splash. I tested that in this video by scanning left and right across a vertical telegraph pole in a field. See > here < (though I hadn't aligned the LRF aiming box on the loaner scope).

The best method is align your LRF aiming box [ ] with the centre of the LRF's IR laser splash at your preferred range (see @mealiejimmie's post just now ☝️), then if in doubt scan left and right across any near and far vertical objects in your FOV, to check whether you're ranging correct distances.

...and I certainly wouldn't want the LRF measuring close to the centre, because at night (NV mode) the flickering white splash would be a pain when looking for subtle eyeshine of any vermin I want to target.
I want it 10 o'clock or two o'clock, ideally 'just' close enough to still be onscreen when zoomed-in.

Cheers. Russ

I've only filled two of the profiles on mine, so far. I have had to adjust the targeting box, mainly for daytime use, with different X/Y values and suspect I will need to do that for any other profiles. I like to "zero" the targeting box at 50yds.
