BSA r10 huma regulator Belleville stack

One very important factor when adjusting Belville stacks is that if they are compressed beyond a certain defection point they no longer work as they should. In other words the spring cups lose their "springiness". Winding the stack up to maximum to see how high a pressure the reg works at out of curiosity is the quickest way to acheive this. Curiosity more often than not kills the cat.

Maybe so, my huma regulator is new and came set at 125bar I adjusted it down to 85bar.

Looking at the picture of my huma stack the configuration is correct but the order of thick and thin Belleville's is not, my stack goes ,thick, thin, thin ,thick, thick ,thin.
Theoretically the same effect as the diagram , thin thick-thick thin-thin thick pairings.

Change 'em round if it makes you feel better . At least you'll have a stack as per the factory spec .

Quick update, my r10 is shoot great with the standard regulator but I have just put the huma back in with the now reconfigured Belleville's to see how it is and first 10 shots all within 9fps over my chronograph, so I'm expecting it will get even more consistent with use (few hundred pellets). If anyone is having trouble with there huma r10 regs check the stack configuration as my one was not how it should have been (new). I set it to 75bar 15" barrel .177.

Just fitting the lightweight short stroked hammer kit as well.

Nice fast reply from huma 👍🏻. Posted this up to help anyone else who is having issues and for future problems.

I sent Huma an email today. About 4 years ago my inline reg for the bottle turned up set to 144 bar and I turned it down to about 90 but still my NPo2 has never been quite right. I asked them if there was a better stack arrangement of the 8 washers in mine for 80 - 90 bar regulated from a 220 - 230 bar fill.

The fast reply was something like 'you cant get 220 bar from a 80 - 90 bar fill, sorry.' Maybe I caught someone on a bad day..... I've emailed again....

Bad day and lost in translation.

This tightened up my spread immensely, find the ideal operating pressure of the gun and you are onto a winner

Iirc a full shot string with a 200cc battery tyke in .22 gave me 200 + with a 13 fps spread

Happy tinkering

I have set my reg to 80bar and set hammer spring so I'm getting 11.1 fpe with 8.44gr JSB exact and 7 FPS spread over 10 shots, when it comes off the reg it's doing 10.7 fpe and dropping to 10.4 .
I might set the reg to 75 bar but no rush to do it

Was that 13 FPS spread over the 200 shots!!?? Because that would be extremely impressive

I think so , if it wasn’t 13 it was certainly less than 18 , I set it up with @sagalout and it as set up in both .22 and 177 ( we where tinkering ☺️)
.22 was more efficient and gave a better spread iirc

Will try and find the graphs

What's the energy with JSB 10.34 Heavy? Also check as it comes off reg with Heavys because, normally, they will more efficient at a lower pressure than exacts.

I need to try some JSB heavies, I will get some soon, I think they will be maybe a little more FPS than the baracuda match due to the softness of the pellets (more efficient). Will try some on & off reg 👍🏻

Iam sure xtx when tradeing sent his huma regs out pre set for a 177 15 inch barrel at 75 bar.

Just for info I have been having problems with the Huma regulator in R10. Stripped it today and the Belleville washer stack was nothing like the set up in the diagram Huma sent you. The thick and thin washer arrangement was all over the place. As well as this it looks like part of my regulator creep problem was a worn Delrin disc. The nipple on the adjustment screw had indented the disc and looks as if it wasn't sealing properly

Bad day and lost in translation.
Apparently still lost in translation. My Huma reg has 8 washers, all the same thickness by eye. Any suggestions for stack designs to try? eg [ (()) or ( ) etc }. My 3rd email went unanswered.... Don't have to use all 8 washers... Always wondered if that micro bore pipe on a NPo2 was affecting the regs ability to (err...) regulate. I've had the front cylinder filled in the past assuming it was a plenum issue. Think it might be easier to just convert it back to non regulated but some de-porting will be needed. So last attempt at a regulated version. Brought this gun as it was cheapish to play with, certainly done that!

@loop has put a copy of the drawing he received from Huma showing stack configuration for sub 12 regulator in post #35. I have resealed and rebuilt mine as the drawing and it appears to be working fine now. I will do some strings tomorrow to make sure it is 100% then remove it and keep it as a spare. I sourced an original BSA Mk2 regulator on here recently and that is the way I’m going to go.

Seen that but he has different thickness washers, I could try double stacking a couple of washers and try but diagram shows a 3rd thicker washer.
