What Country have you visited that you never want to return to?

Respect ! the only Trainer you need !
Been wearing them since '79 and currently have a grey suede pair
You are the man. I'm the same, first pair was black leather because they were the only one's available back then in the 80's. I've been wearing them ever since. Still have the same soul pattern, same giant front tongue and comfy as ever. Touching 80 quid a shot now but last years. Feel nude without a pair on. I also wore Gola in the 70's and fancy a pair of the retro Gola's now available.

Went to Venice some years ago, avoid the tourist traps like St Marks square, go into the backwaters & get lost. Fantastic place.
Malta last year, Loved it, everyone speaks english & was friendly, Food was great. So much history crammed into a tiny place.
The war museum was something else, The WW2 bit hits hard, as you walk in overhead there is the fuselage of one of the Gloster Gladiators Faith Hope & Charity, close enough to touch, Then the room about the Ohio, If you can walk out of there without tears in your eyes you aint human.
For real shitholes try the isle of Sheppey or Tilbury.

Israel and Saudi because of the people.
Sri Lanka because of the suspected Cholera while I was there and the 3 months of Dysentery when I got home.

I'm really surprised at the comments about Turkey and especially regarding the food. It's one of my favourite destinations and cuisines. 🤷
Surprised by Israel and Sri Lanka, both fascinating countries with nice people and the food is amazing in Sri Lanka.. ( mind you I bet the Dysentery was no fun)

Saudi and the Arab countries I can totally agree on (y)

Now you're talking, used to love Gola trainers too good 5 a side footwear too. 70s wear was the best.

Probably Nigeria, i’ve worked or lived in 39 countries over the years including living in Russia, Pakistan and a bunch of former soviet republics, visited Afghan and Libya too but the only place i’ve felt really unsafe was Nigeria

I was working in Israel, trying to help a hospital there sort out their Radiotherapy problems. The people I met (which admittedly was a tiny subset of the population) were universally rude, arrogant and offensive. I couldn't wait to leave.

I was really looking forward to the food in Sri Lanka but got Ill on day 1. OK, this was the 90's and I was backpacking around but I ended up living on bananas, pineapple and mangos cos everything else was essentially poisonous! It sort of colours your judgement a bit 😉
Maybe if I'd stayed in a hotel my experience would have been different?

Tunisia and Turkey...
Should be called Tushitia and Turdkey...

Both were shitholes and unsafe for white western women, literally had to have a fight with 2 locals in Tushitia in around 1990, who were physically molesting a Swedish woman in broad daylight on a beach, she was sobbing in fear.

She then spent the day with me and my missus at the time and wouldn't leave us through fear.

Even the hotel complex had feeling of menace towards us.

Paid for a fortnight and had to pay to come home a week early because it was unbearable.

Turdkey was a close second for the biggest shithole I've visited.

Both visited in the early 90's and I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt 30 odd years later.
Sounds like I am making this up but the thread made me remember a conversation a couple of years back at Ayot Green Village where we would often dog walk- probably conversation came up after discussing dogs but a lady I met on the green said she was in Egypt once and asked her taxi driver to take her off the tourist area and show her Egypt away from the normal tourist parts and she found the locals playing football but instead of using a ball were kicking a cat around. Not a pleasant update to type up. ;( She said she hated the place.

My former girlfriend always wanted us to holiday in Egypt and see the Pyramids. I said if I wanted to go look at a load of sand I'll book 2 weeks at Travis Perkins.

I just don’t holidays - full stop. Four days anywhere and I get restless.
Sad to hear such disparaging remarks about Tunisia ( where I’ve never been) as my late nan’s brother Walter Lane is buried in a war grave there having been KIA’d during the Africa Campaign in WW11. (REME)
Born in the East End of London (Bethnal Green), lived in Dagenham, died and buried in a sh*thole called Tunisia - nice. Nan never could tend her brother’s grave it wasn’t doable back then but I’ll never forget her words “ My Wally was lovely I do miss him”.
