What Country have you visited that you never want to return to?

Turkey, what a slum, filthy arrogant people, every where stunk, men spitting, god only knows what they smoke in their cigarettes never smelt anything so bad, food was appalling, 10 days of sickness and belly ache. Beggers everywhere, police with an attitude and don’t even get me started on the fly's. If you look western the only thing their interested in is how much money they can extort. Egypt is a close second for all the above reasons, a guy on our flight had spent the week on IV fluids after contracting dysentery in the 6 star resort.

You're not exactly selling this location 😆 😉

Sorry do I need to reveal I’m an ambassador for the Turkish tourist board 😂

When I was in the Ivory Coast (West Africa) a local was hit by a lorry in front of me, a few of the local guys quite literally just jumped on his obviously dead body and started rifling through his possessions before wondering off like nothing had happened.

My wife was really upset as was I the next day, when the poor sod was still in the road but pretty much flat where countless trucks had run over him

Gibraltar, thought it was going to be a throw back to the Good Times, not really, booked a nice Hotel I thought, with balcony and unobstructed Sea view, first morning got awoke by ships Hooters
Went on the balcony there must have been 10 tankers anchored in the bay, went down to breakfast the restaurant rammed with South Asian ships offiers, all yabbering,
Every pub selling Fish and chips, and when a Cruise ship docked, everywhere rammed,
Ghastly, ☹️☹️☹️
I lived in ( on? ) Gib when I was about 10 as my father was stationed there.
The town had wee little shops selling all sorts of things and I could roam at will.
Fished in the bay next to the runway with just a line and hook - you could see the fish 20ft down as the water was so clear.
Walked up the Rock to visit the caves and tease the apes.
Got to 'fly' the RAF Brittania airplane on the way back and made my little sister sick by wobbling the control column about.

Went back in 2007 and everything had gone, the high Street was just duty free shops and M&S and my fishing spot was a nightclub.

I know there are far worse places but after spending 41 years there my vote is Australia. We visited family for a couple of weeks last year and it confirmed we had made the right choice, everything had gone downhill, crime in Melbourne had gotten a lot worse and everything is just so expensive there.

Australia is on my bucket list, I have family there & will hopefully visit some day.

The sort of thing that can dent your faith in humanity forever, thats so sad to read.

I wouldn't go back to Lille or possibly Paris.

On the other hand I had a fabulous but not particularly touristy time in both Cambodia (want to go again) and Sierra Leone (will definitely be going again).

Definitely Turkey. I think it was around 95 when I went but it appeared that even in the town centres they had not yet discovered tarmac or paving. In the restaurants they had definitely not discovered food hygiene and everything for sale in the shops and markets was fake/counterfeit goods and I've been on rollercoasters that gave a smoother ride than their buses.

Turkey. Food is terrible and so are the hygiene standards. Constantly had the feeling I was about to be mugged. Food poisoning seemed to affect almost everyone. Often pestered by street pedlars.

North East France, particularly the Calais area down to Paris. It's National Front territory and they don't like foreigners, particularly English.

Saudi Arabia. I was the new boy in the team and didn’t duck quick enough when the job came up. I was only out there for a week but it’s just such a disagreeable place. You have to be dead careful what books you take with you, what painkillers you’ve got in your bag. It was nearly 50 degrees so I spent the whole time going hotel - cab - office - cab - hotel without setting foot outside. Plus working in an office where there is not one solitary female - even the receptionists and PAs are blokes, is just goddam weird. The dash to the bar at the stopover in the UAE on the way back was entirely justified.
