Restless legs syndrome

@joe average
600mg , three times a day,
Is that 600mg tablets 3* a day or 200mg tablets 3* a day?

I’ve recently (Saturday) started on 25mg tablets 3* a day (Pregabalin) to try to deaden pins & needles, the only remaining side effect of the stroke I suffered in August. My GP’s practice uses the services of their in-house clinical pharmacist to regulate drug doses and I’ve a review with her in a couple of weeks’ time, just wondering where I might end.

I didn’t know this was a thing until a few years ago. I’ve suffered from it on and off all my life.
As you do, I didn’t share it with anyone, typical bloke thing I know-stupid too. Anyways one of the lads in work told me his missus suffers with it, I asked a few questions to him and he explained what it was, was like a eureka moment! I can deal with it without medication but some nights it’s a right mare! Don’t think mines bad enough to warrant meds but feel for you guys and gals that must have it a lot worse than me. I find if I tense my leg muscles as hard as I can and hold it for 10 seconds and repeat until my legs are absolutely knackered it allows enough relief to hopefully fall asleep before it kicks off again.
At least you have found a way to help yourself. I'm pleased that you have. The lack of sleep is the worst. If I could get past 3am without waking I'd be very pleased.

That sounds like a big dose, sorry it’s had to get that far. Final question if I can, any side effects? My light dose knocks me out about 2 j]hours after taking them, hopefully it’ll stop once my body acclimatises.

I had side effects when I first started taking it, drowsiness and brain fog mainly, none what so ever now though

Sorry you have such issues to have to take that amount.
Thank you, I simply couldn't manage without the medication, its just something I am used to now, along with the fentanyl patches, now they are unbelievably strong ,

Fentanyl is an extremely strong synthetic opioid, estimated to be 50 to 100 times more potent than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine.

On the left, a lethal dose of heroin; on the right, a lethal dose of fentanyl.

Get a REVITIVE....takes it away in a few minutes........the thing Ian Botham advertises on TV.......not cheap £300+ but it works especially for restless legs. I had it but not any more.
I had my bodi-tek thing delivered today ( same as revitive but much cheaper) so hoping it will help with my symptoms 🙏
Do you have to use yours regularly or just every so often ?

Mines caused by a combination of type2 diabetes and high platelet count in my blood. A couple of paracetamols settles it down thankfully. Feet are worst, but it travels up as far as my knees.
Another getting old thing..

I dont get the restlessness very often so its once every blue moon. Reading some of the posts on here my legs arent really a problem in comparison. I quite enjoy the "massage". It makes my leg muscles contract and they feel renewed afterwards

Nearly every night for the past 3 years I've suffered with restless legs. After a fair bit of research looking for a natural type of medication I came across Magnesium Glycinate. For the past fortnight I've been taking one a day an hour before going to bed. I haven't had restless legs at all in this fortnight. I am now getting a solid nights sleep and feeling so much better for it in the morning.

Hi John Pleased you have found something that works 👍.

Well I'm a lot better now and leading a near normal life. The specialist decided that I actually had two different issues though unknown cause. Yes I had restless legs but also a nerve type issue. After 6 months of different drugs they put me on a drug called Duloxetine. 120mg per day which has slowly worked. This drug stops the signals for the nerve pain and 70% restless legs. This drug is for depression which I have also and anxiety 3 in one lol but they obviously found out it's excellent for this type of problem As it works on the brain. I have issues when out walking and doing normal stuff which I can handle ok, but have co-codamol if I want any which really works well. But I only take now on as needed. Id probably say 4 tablets a week at most. How long this will last I don't know.! It's been a nightmare but got there in the end. I know people have worse issues but understand the pains they must go through. I still take tables for leg night cramps which work excellent too.. I'm very grateful to my brilliant doctor and the hospital that has helped me, for ever grateful.

I hope all who have such problems good luck in the search for getting well again.
