Just wondering if anyone on here has the same condition. All be it I have had the occasional restless leg.. ie need to keep moving to stop the sensation, I now have it 24/7 at rest. Normally intense burning sensation in leg muscles. I'm.just starting on Pregabalin still on a low dose. Exercise makes it worse.. just asking for tips of tricks no sleep for months isn't easy to deal with. Thank you for and help. I do use deepfreeze gel.

I feel your pain, I've suffered for years, since a child. Mine is an intense but unexplained pain in my knee joints, and for people who don't know, it HURTS. I've never taken any medication for it ( I didn't know there was any available) I've always just thought it's one of those things and ride it out. Some nights it gets so intense it feels like I'm awake all night...
Sorry, I have no miracle cure but I will investigate a bit further now....

There is quite a few meds, just finding the right ones.
alpha-2-delta ligands

Gabapentin
Gabapentin enacarbil
Pregabalin 25gm +++

dopamine agonists such as ropinirole, pramipexole, and rotigotine.

Premipexole didn't help me at all. Though knowing my luck it will be the last ones I try that will probably help.!! There are even patches that they can use. Though I can't remember what meds they are.

Problem is they start you off on such a low dose for weeks to make sure no issues. So it's a long road of trial error. But I have most excellent doctors. Hope you find something to help you.

Yep I've had just a few hours sleep in two nights. Going out driving or walking makes mine worse.

Took my first Pregabalin just last night, 1*25mg. My pharmacist wants me to start slowly and work up to 3 a day. I’ve pins & needles 24/7 following a minor stroke in August. Don’t know if the tablet is the cause of me being awake since 0300.

I've been up since 2am though my normal sleep pattern with this is awake every two hours, applying deepfreeze gel to my calves muscles. I have bad days and worse days. I haven't experienced pins and needles in mine, but it is a symptom of restless legs. I've just upped my meds to 50mg morning and 100 mg night. Will be my first day on this. Trouble is they are not pain killers like paracetamol ect. They work by binding with nerves. So it takes a while. They are just electric signal blocker. (Think that's about right) . Hope you find they work for you.

Always lived with RLS from about 20 years old but mine not as bad as some of you guys from the sound of it. Mine comes and goes but is always there . Can never sleep on a long haul flight as I have to keep fidgeting and moving my legs. I researched medication buy most seem to be painkillers that can be addictive and read something recently about some of the medication causing people to act really strangely and go off and seek adventurous and risky sex completely out of character ! Not sure about exercise in general but I think stretching or yoga helps before going to bed. I find a lot of people who have never suffered can't grasp what's its like and think it's a made of thing. Doesn't really help with shooting does it, constantly having to move your legs ! 😐

Yours sounds like mine used to be. Especially at evening time. This time for me it's a burning sensation. This disappears once I start walking. But it's constant while at rest, sitting or laying down. Day time bad/ evening really bad/ night time intense.

If your getting the urge to move sensation, try magnesium spray on the legs. Take note it's a bit sticky and doesn't quite dry. Though there is plenty of different makes out there. Try Amazon. £10. ISH.

I am awaiting a hospital scan to rule out PAD or similar issue. But they take their time on getting appointment.

I tried Gabapentin but had issues with it. Re-started using my vibro-plate machine and it has reduced the problem considerably.

I too wrestled with RLS for many years. The tension building up in the calf, like a rubber band tightening. Then the explosive kick that followed. No serious pain but repetitive, frustrating and sleep depriving. Also bruising to my partners legs.
I found that drinking 2 to 3 pints of water at bedtime (not all in one go) calmed it down considerably and eventually it stopped. Still have the odd episode now and again.
So , I sympathise with you guys that have serious trouble with it.

Thank you for the feedback.

I had it for a while, before and after my kidney transplant. Not as bad as anyone else here, but annoying all the same. In the run up to the transplant, I couldn't sit down for more than ten minutes at a stretch, had to keep getting up and walking around. Immediately after the transplant, while I was still in hospital, my legs would keep kicking up off the bed every 30 seconds or so. They injected quinine (?) which stopped it dead. When I got home, I was back to the inability to sit down for more than 10 minutes, but that faded away after a month or so.

Yes I'm on quinne for night leg cramps that started around June time. Quinne has fixed that. I've tried to research link between the two but they seem different issues. I'm pleased yours has faided away now. It's not nice. Doctors are unsure what causes it. So it's trial and error.

Try magnesium and vit d with k2 if you want to avoid medication, completely fixed mine, use to feel like i was doing a triathlon lol
No affliction but iv found british supplements to be a life saver for alot of ailments for me, higher priced stuff but real deal and not crap in em 👍 hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback, yes I'm taking supplements myself. Regular testing to make sure I'm right. Though my markers show I have enough. I do wonder if iron could/ should be higher. But docs say it's right. Further tests on 5th. Dec. 👍

Had RLS for at least 30yrs.
Only really happens bad in bed lying down, eminates from the knees, if I move my legs I get relief, if I turn over I get a minutes relief.
Magnesium doesn't work for me, exercise, stretching, alcohol no difference. Some nights aweful and some not so bad. Never get a good night's sleep and I hate going to bed. I like to stay up until I can barely keep my eyes open then I'll nod off quick before it starts.

Would like to try Dr Hos vibro machine but could be £200 down the drain. Never been to doc's about it either, maybe I should?

Definitely go to doctors. Lots of different medications to try and help.
