Scopes that work well with rear add-ons like the 007 tend to have the following features:
a. IR friendly lens coatings (that eliminates top end brands like Swarovski, Zeiss and Schmidt and Bender)
b. Side focus (parallax) down to 10 yards or less
c. Bigger objective lenses let in more IR so 50mm or larger is usually good although for shorter range work smaller objectives down to 32mm can still work well
d. Low base magnification - x4 or less
e. Top end magnification not more than x20 - you'll never use it
Arguably the best scope for both day and add-on use is the Delta Titanium HD 2.5-15x50 or it's bigger brother witht he 56mm objective
Other brands/models known to work well include:
Meopta Optika 6 3-18x50
Sightron S Tac 4-16x50
Athlon Midas HMR 2.5-15x50
Hawke Sidewinder - most Hawke scopes work well with NV but there are a couple that are not so good but I can't remember which models they are
Stay away from any 6-24, or even worse 8-32 scopes, and fixed magnification scopes
Remember what I said earlier about the 16mm PARD magnifying the reticle and the image?
If you stick an 007 on the back of a x6-24 scope, it immediately becomes an x8-32 scope, that why the best scopes for rear NV add-ons are low base magnification
So, a x2.5 -15 scope becomes x3.3-20 and that retains the wide field of view which is important for being able to locate a target quickly.
Once located, the scope magnification can be increased to make the target appear larger.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't answer your question about the Hawke Compact.
I don't have any personal experience with that particular scope but I know that Ian Blackwood at Blackwood Outdoors who uses the 007 a lot really rates the Hawke Vantage 2-7x32 side focus for air rifle and rimfire ranges
Cheers
