Forum HW35 project

An amazing idea just about to read all the posts but just thought id say this is great

So i caught up and sat here like a cheshire cat honestly love it . Seeing the community come together and pull something out the bag is amazing .

That looks like a nice stock. I didn't see an update on it, and this is "teaching my grandmother to suck eggs", but:

Petrol is usually a good solvent for gluey stuff. Acetone too, but it depends on the gluey stuff. I used petrol on something last week and it was gone in seconds. I think it was tar. The acetone didn't shift it.

I only picked up on the thread yesterday or so- see Nath is doing a stock Refurb. I did my stock this year and could have offered to do a stock sanding and oil rubdown- I can do a tin of pellets or a gunbag off ebay for the rifle, if useful. Could post to Mr Ganton Gunner or the mods at any address for you.
 
I have no skills but reading this thread would inspire me to take on a project rifle.. If I could justify it on one of the two spaces for airguns on a Northern Ireland FAC:mad:

How do people treat guns like this carving there name & scorecard on the stock 😳

It saddens me when lovely old classic guns have had names & score cards carved on the stocks what a shame! Although hopefully not to deep so easily repaired depending on wether the pistol grip was taped hopefully not a crack but an easy enough repair with a strong screw from inside would he invisible, also the 35E had a pistol grip cap & the rear of the stock was referred to as a hog heads design as it dropped down to the recoil pad so looks more like a luxus? I've a real soft spot for the 35E I still have mine from when I was a strapping young lad of 12 & 6ft tall.
