Saw this mentioned on another thread, and I still don't understand the relevance of it, as the chrono is not used to scale shots on the sub 12 Alpha Wolf.

The reg pressure is definetly too high but if it's shooting under legal then leave it... Also you can lower the power on these anyway so play around with it.. Also remember on days like to day when it's nice and warm the air expands and the pressure goes up... The last time i checked mine it was saying around 112

Alpha wolf stock flat for benchrest .no need for bag rider,regulator probably will give a flatter trajectionary than red wolf

how does competition benchrest shooters deal with the weak first shot ?

So mine is a 2022 Alpha & and I’ve been aware at B&K that they sell the ‘new’ ‘Ultra’ firing valve for sub12 rifles that were fitted I believe as standard from March 2023 onward.
Couldn’t help myself - had to get one and get it installed.
Interesting seeing them side by side. Externally they’re basically identical, but the newer post-March 2023 “Ultra” valve actually has a noticeably smaller air outlet hole and a much softer/smoother return spring.
Looks like Daystate weren’t simply chasing more airflow, but more controlled airflow and faster valve closure. Makes sense really for sub-12 stuff as efficiency and consistency matter more than brute flow for FAC.
Will be very interesting to see what happens over the chrono once fitted. I suspect a lower optimal reg pressure, crisper firing cycle and maybe a tighter ES/SD.

Yes replaced mine on the DW some time ago, I did note the firing cycle did seem not as aggressive. Deviation seemed tighter at a higher reg pressure

Have to say recently bought one. As standard then a @Tricky-Dicky shroud. Took a while to settle but it's a scary beast. Managed a 59/60 HFT Sunday with it in wind all up the peg (as hadn't set it up right). Really quiet and bloody accurate guns!

I was always under the belief that the uprated firing valve that is primarily intended for FAC guns and those manufactured before 2023 uses larger port sizes than the previous valve, at least that's what daystate says/describes it.Alpha/Delta Wolf Sub12 'Ultra' Firing Valve.

And yet B&K have both types of ‘new’ valve available…

Jeff does a video on the newer type valve,(9.23 on)and mentions that the FAC version is a balanced valve, but I have not seen this version for sale anywhere, mine came with the newer valve and has a large TP but the TP in the gun and barrel is what governs the power anyway so aside from the spring being slightly heavier and the pin seals different i cant see any major differences, not even sure what DS hoped to achieve as IMO it does not improve constancy.
Fitted that newer post-March 2023 sub-12 “Ultra” firing valve and have done some rough tuning today using the rifle’s built-in chrono (my FX D1 one has bricked and I’m waiting for a replacement from Sportsman Gun Centre! 
).
So on the trusty laptop adjusting pulse and voltage settings. The factory 100% setting with the original valve was 1980 pulse and 69.5v, but because this newer valve design behaves differently (i.e. spicy), found it’s a case of finding what settings it now works most efficiently with…
After a bit of rough tuning it currently seems happiest around a new lower 85 bar reg with a custom 1910 pulse and 69.5v. Using my barrels fave JSB Shorts, the last 20-shot (with PR-S SSL) string averaged about 780 FPS with ES 11 and SD around 3.
That’s already pretty encouraging considering it’s fresh after fitting and using unsorted pellets straight from the tin. I suspect there’s still more consistency in it yet once I really dial it in properly after I get my new chrono

This is what I’ve now preloaded into the Alpha Wolf ready for proper testing once the replacement FX chrono arrives 
Basically I’ve created a structured tuning matrix around the new Ultra valve rather than just randomly changing things on the day.
SET1 is the current baseline tune that was giving around 780 FPS today. The other sets then explore slightly different pulse lengths, voltages and reg pressures to see what effect they have on consistency, efficiency and firing behaviour.
Some sets are just testing pulse changes on their own, some are testing softer strike voltage, and the later sets are combinations of slightly higher reg pressure with shorter dwell times which can sometimes produce really calm valve behaviour and super low SD/ES figures.
The idea is to shoot proper long strings through it with the FX D1 chrono and compare them scientifically rather than chasing random numbers. Hoping there’s an “elite node” hidden somewhere in there where the rifle just completely settles down

Be interested in the results
Each set is completely separate and self-contained mate, not cumulative.
The idea isn’t to randomly jump between settings chasing FPS, it’s to create a structured test matrix around the current baseline tune and then compare long strings from each set under identical conditions.
Some sets isolate pulse changes only, some isolate voltage changes only, and others test combinations of slightly higher reg pressure with shorter dwell/softer strike settings to see how the valve behaves.
The goal isn’t power, it’s to find the calmest and most repeatable firing cycle possible and see where the rifle produces the lowest SD/ES figures

I have got myself one of the AW blue limited ones and was trying it out again today, I know that all of the settings on there ( that I’m still learning about) seem to be aimed at over sub12 market or am I wrong, I have been using it at 100% power and its shooting great around 11.4 and grouping nicely, I have only had it just over 2weeks but I already know it’s a keeper
