Best springer for garden target work - 25-30m

Hi all - been a member here before (plantman) but i think my old account was inactive for too long.

I originally purchased a Kral Puncher for pest control on a friend's farm. However, i no longer have permission to shoot there. As I'm now only doing casual target work I'm looking for a real nice springer. I had a HW99s a while back which was a little loud for the garden although i didnt have it tuned, i was thinking about an AA TX200HC but wanted to see what fellow members would recommend?

we have neighbours on 2 sides who are really cool and have no issues with me shooting but i would like something that's as quiet as possible - budget is around £800 range

Look for a used TX200. I prefer the full length model, but the HC can accommodate a silencer.

Yeah i have seen a few YouTube videos comparing these two - i assume its really down to personal preference - what makes you lean that convincingly to the prosport? My teen children (16) will be using it too if there is any considerable difference in cocking them

I have a Pro Sport - totally stock - and there is definitely a technique to cocking it. One of the guys at the range has a TX200, IMO it was easier to cock, but I am 'well passed my sell by date'

If teens are involved I'd look for something full length with a good moderator, it'll be easier to cock on extended sessions.
Also the backstop will be a big factor, I always advise four paving stones in a box shape with a bag of sand you can put in it.

Gun wise if it's only 25-30yds then anything from an HW30 up will do, carbines are a bit more effort to cock which isn't so bad for a short while but over time it'll become arduous.

If you've got £800 you could buy an HW30 kit for the kids as it's scaled down and easy for a kid to cock & handle.
And with the £500 change get something full size for yourself that they'll grow into, like an HW35 or a secondhand TX or Prosport.

My point is there's nothing more disheartening for a kid than not being able to hit anything because they can't handle the rifle.
You should get change out of that for TBT kits if you feel the need.

I’ve only got a 25m range and have plowed over £1500 into a tx200 (21mm) and honestly after owning a hw30 if I was only ever shooting at 25m I would say for £800 get a new hw30 and stick a cs500 stock on it with a dm80 mod and a nice little 2-7x32, you’ll struggle to beat that

This seems to be a popular opinion - ill check the listings on here for a hw30 and go from there i think. Those custom stocks look fantastic.

I dislike TX200s so much i better keep my opinions to myself in such TXy company so there.
Equally controversial perhaps .. Moderators / silencers call em what you will, on PCPs and Co2 guns perhaps , but in my experience their effectiveness on any springer just save your money, and yes before the moderator fan boys chime in with "You got the wrong mod" i tried many best to date not the dony fl not the HW not the Hogget not the one from near mansfield everyone said would work and i spent £70 on which name escapes me but the Hogan decimeeter is the quietest i ever used on PCPs and co2 pistols, on springers it sound like any other a ever so slight reduction if you happen to have very long 25m arms and are stood down range shooting at yourself.
No! Do yourself a massive favour save your money to re stock the gun for a perfect fitting stock of your choice or even take your lass out anything but dont waste money on a mod on a springer its not going to help not even a hogan decimeeter.
Buy a HW30 they are born for what you want to do, they just are.

Yeah the twang on my 99s was from the body and it was very noticeable - a nice chap from here came to my house to buy and he mentioned a tune-up would sort it and make it a dream to fire (i kinda regret selling it now) as i was/am an amateur i didnt even think about secondary mod kits etc

Haha - i remember why i loved the community here now - thanks for everyone's replies, definitely looking at the 30sf now and maybe an alternative for me depending on how much i like it.

A tricked up HW 30 or 99 gets my vote. Silencer and tune kit will help massively with the noise.

Accuracy should still be ok it will be your poi that will change , pcp will be hitting slightly high

TBT works sell in these, but if it shoots nicely as is, perhaps plane for a strip, clean, de burr any cutouts on the cylinder internally, and rebuild with a touch of Molly grease, TBT YouTube channel has videos on this

Hw turn out incredible air rifle the bog stock outa the box tuning company alus works for me. Silencer? they dont work worth the mention save your money mate.
