New DNT Zulus tubed 4K scope

SORRY - CORRECTION!! - wrong thread -

I was enquiring about the Alpex Lite 4K

@RussDouglas222 @GPCBILL (and everyone else) - Why are they so cheap at optics warehouse atm?

I’m not in desperate need of one, but I’m pretty sure I will get one for my springer in the near future (6 months or so), so I’m a little concerned prices may return to what other websites are comment selling for…

… OR will the unavailing of a(nother) superior model further decrease the price?

Happy to take your best guesses as I realise no one can predict the future.

Cheers

I’d buy one if you fancy making some more?

Leave it with me tomorrow, I've got a big print on the go at the moment.
I want to see if I can improve the profile even more as well, I'm a perfectionist, 😁. I will drop a message on here to update you,and if selling I'll put it in the sales to keep things legit, thank you 👍🏼

Sorry - wrong thread - I was looking at the Hik …

They’re £500 everywhere, £475 from @Blackwood Outdoors with the forum code I believe, or the same on eBay.

From the Hik issues thread, it seems a new product launch is imminent. But I don’t ever think there’s a great time to buy as prices fluctuate so much and there is always the next best thing around the corner.

Personally, I think all of these NV scopes are much of a muchness as they’re using similar sensors and processors, so until the next generation of tech arrives (which will be apparent and in mainstream devices first) there won’t be anything that stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Why the 4k Lite is cheap? I'd guess word is spreading that the DNT Zulus 4K really is excellent. 🤷🏻‍♂️
But don't just take our word for it, see for yourself next week at the British Shooting Show.
🤓🎯 🤜🤛

Purely a reaction to the ZT4K release, think they dropped the price the next day. They were £500 before Christmas, too.

Hardly surprising when you could preorder the ZT4K for £585 and it comes with mounts.

The margin on these things for the manufacturer/importer must be HUGE.

Thanks @yarns and @Varminter for your feed back.

The 4k has a FHD screen, exactly the same as the V2 so essentially there won't be much difference in the displayed image. Where the 4 k comes into it's own is that it starts off at 3X and zooms up to 24X.

This is achieved by using the 4k sensor rather than a 1080P sensor. The 4K gives and extra level of zoom. If a 1080p sensor was used then the scope would basically be a tubed ZHD312R

The ZT4K was designed to fit into the market where people wanted the tubed style scope rather than the compact Zulus.

So whether it's seen as an upgrade or a side ways move depends on your initial standpoint on tubed or compact.

Im not much good with the technical aspects @GPCBILL , so hoping you can help. I prefer the Hik solutions for their last/first light colour images. My preference is based on balancing a NV unit with the capability to stalk deer, using the same unit.

From what you have said, it seems there isnt much difference in the sensor/screen in the new unit from its predecessor?

Looking at the colour image rendition in a post by @ratter10 , it does seem to have that capability now?

Would be good to understand what it can do before dawn, after dusk.

TIA.

The Alpex 4k I had on loan, has been returned so I won't be able to do a side by side. I only had it for 10 days.
The weather up here has been atrocious. It's rained constantly for 3 weeks which isn't the best for scope testing.

No worries - and understand the weather situation.

Anyone else able to offer a view on the capabilities at dusk/dawn?

I saw a good video a while ago comparing the lite with the chunky big brother and there wasn't that much difference out to 150. Think HIK made him take it down as sort of blew their arguement out of the water that one was for CF and the lite for everything else......

I can’t compare to anything Hik, but I have tested it back to back with a Zulus V1 (compact) and the image clarity is far superior (and brighter) at first and last light. I’ll try to upload a video, but remember the video is only 1080 resolution, so isn’t as good as the image you see through the scope.

I think where this scope will excel is as a stalking scope for dusk/dawn, as a (much) lighter alternative to the big Alpex 4K, with the NV capability if you stay out and bolt an IR on, rather than carrying multiple rigs.

Nothing will topple the big HIK for dusk/dawn or compare at the moment as the HIK is the only one with 50mm objective. Until then the HIK is at the top for certainly dusk/dawn. Thats the long and short of it. Am I wrong @One on top of two

It is because the Alpex trumps the Zulus in poor conditions.

The time should be PM. 5.23, pretty much dark, heavy sleet, in day and night 4K mode.
"...pretty much dark"... so the ZT4K performed well then showing that much, (and we know as always the display image is better quality.

Of course flick the IR on and NV mode excels as shadows disappear, and eye shine appears - like headlights shouting "here I am!" 🤓

Thanks for sharing, cheers. Russ
