How things have got so much worse for these absolutely beautiful creatures !
Growing up in the 1960’s we virtually ignored them as they were everywhere, now if I see one I always make the time to watch them for as long as possible. I don’t believe my grandchildren will see ANY as adults.
One bit of good news to counter my doom& gloom post is that I’ve seen more dunnocks this spring than I’ve seen for several years —- I don’t know why BUT I’M LOVING IT !!

She and her mate normally take turns at the nest. Strangely they were both together just before I took this.

I haven’t seen a strikingly colourful male Bullfinch for over 20 years. This is not the area for them but a late friend usually had them on his land — he was surrounded by fruit farms ( great photo’s baldy ! )
We were in kielder for a week a fortnight ago. That's where I saw the bullfinch, siskin and warbler. Like yourself I used to see them locally, but I haven't for a long time.
