Cheers, Nikon D500 and Sigma Sport 500mm f4.
Heavy old bit of kit 😅

Those were a few quick snaps through an open window, light was a bit low so the iso bumped a bit
Old but still fully capable of producing quality shoots! Have you thought about moving over to the Z models?

I've thought about it a couple of times, but to be honest I really like my D500 for wildlife and bif, so I'm not really looking at swapping bodies.

The squirrel shots were with a Nikon 70-200mm f4, it's a good small garden lens for when the subjects are a bit closer

Put simply, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it !
Back when I had a d7000 I so wanted a d500, an excellent piece of kit 👍

Definitely, I've had it a while and I know it's capabilities and limitations so I'm pretty tuned in to getting decent shots from it.

TBH @antsz Nikon D500 does not have the bells and whistles of the lower range z series, but its 12.3 megapixels ( edit : 20 megapixels , cheers @Wozza )is more than enough to produce good shots through its DX format, with the price of DSLR Nikon cameras and lenses dropping because of the Z series ( and of course Nikon phasing DSLR out , by that no new models or F series lenses) upgrading to a 810 or 850 is a better bet, having said that if your happy with a camera why change? I still use my D1 for monochrome shots, old well used but still very capable. 5 megapixel.

Good points there, the D500 is 20.9mp though 👍🏻

Of course, I was only asking as I made the jump to the Z range after shooting with my D850. Personally, the best thing I did (I'm not a hobbyist nor pro, but I do get paid for some of my work). I had a bit of time with Sony with some of there high end gear, superb, but I'm a Nikon man and switched back. As you say, its defintley the glass that counts. I have a range of Z lenses, and I also have an L-mount camera. I now hire lenses when I have a good shoot coming up.

I made the jump to Z this year, my trusty old D200 finally gave up.
I'm interested to know your thoughts/dos&donts on Z lenses, particularly for wildlife.
