Where to look for a used air rifle?

Thanks all for the very warm welcome, it is really nice to be part of the group.

He is 17 and one of those that spends most his time indoors so it will be good to get him outside in the garden. I think I have settled on looking for a good Remington Express now. I was going to go for a 22 but I like the idea of the better speed and accuracy of a 177. I did look at Pellpax but they seem to be out of stock at the moment.

I guess that days of simply heading off to go shooting in your nearest patch of waste land has long gone too? I used to ride down the road on my bike with my air rifle across my handle bars and say hello to the local police as I went past.

Shooting in most places is illegal - unless you are the owner or have permission.
Even then there are constraints.
The world has moved on from when a casual attitude was OK!

As I said earlier, best to get to a Club for many, many reasons.

Anywhere near Melbourne?

Hello

I am looking for a used air rifle which my son could use to get a bit of extra shooting practice with when is not at the army cadets. When I was his age, you used to be able to buy air rifles from the local free-ads papers but times have certainly changed. Any ideas where people sell their unwanted rifles now?

He only needs a break barrel spring action rifle for a bit of plinking and none of the high powered things that need a licence.

Thanks
EDIT: Oops, just noticed this is an OLD thread, Lol, soz... 8-)

Hi and welcome, enjoy the forums, lots of good peeps and info on here.
If you stay on the forum and take part, read some threads, contribute to some threads, etc you will soon have the required 50 meaningful posts to then gain access to our very own AGFA sales section.
Note, they do need to be meaningful, not just saying hi to peeps 50 times, Lol!

IMHO this is the best place to buy and sell guns bar none.

Be wary of Gunstar, Guntrader, etc and only do face to face if you go down that route.
As previously mentioned, most good RFD's will have a selection of used guns for you to look at, try out for size, weight, fit, etc.
Good luck with it and let us know how you get on...
Cheers

For many reasons I would take him to the nearest club. The air rifle community are VERY friendly, and be only to pleased to get you up to speed on the plethora of safety and security rules and regs They should have a few "club guns" knocking about that you could "try before you buy".
Good luck, hopefully your lad will take to it.

Just a casual observation, but Guntrader often seems to have a few used rifles for sale in Derbyshire. Private sellers will normally be cheaper, but more caution required obviously. Good luck.
