what decent pistol for target on a budget

Another mito fan here using it with the stock, reximex silent force mod a hawke fastmount 4-12x50 and using barracuda 8s its 10mm holes
At 20m and 15- 20 mm at 30m great fun on spinners etc but do the trigger mod its very easy and less than £8 for the two springs on E bay
Can be bought for £310 up near sunderland for the plain black version
 
Depends how far you want to take "target".

I'd personally say that the Reximex Mito is totally unsuitable as a target pistol, the open sights are essentially useless, and really it just loves to be used as a plinker with a red dot on top - for which it is excellent, and is precisely why I'm keeping mine!

There are a lot of options in older pistols, something like an Original Model 6 would be great for smaller hands, cocking is not very difficult given the length of the gun - just finding one will be the challenge. It has what I would consider to be the bare minimum in terms of an ergonomic grip. If the little ones have trouble with the cocking action of something like this, a quick de-tune will help, or more simply a little bit of PVC pipe slipped over the barrel as a "cheater" bar/cocking aid 😅 a modern version of the goats foot used for cocking crossbows...!

I'll forever recommend the Snowpeak PP20 or new PP30 as an absolutely excellent entry-level "proper" target pistol. If you can get to Brum they even have this charming "red" model in stock that'd probably appeal!

Appreciate that it annihilates the budget state though!
 
if you want co2, would recommend a Crosman 2240, you can get them for 100 quid or so or the (theres a 2250 if you wants something a bit more erm pokey). they have virtualy no recoil and make a nice bang with no moderator. Then you could use your "change" from ya "250ish budget to buy a metal breach, wider transfer port and a trigger spring. as a bonus they are relarively easy enough to fit which you can do with your daughter (about £80 for the parts). From the box they are about 5ftlb and will get 40-60 shots per co2 cartridge.

I did update this thread to say, we got here a lovely used and nicely modded 2240 but in 177 cal, shoots great

They’ll give you great accuracy, especially if it’s a Lothar Walther barrel.

I have four 22xx LW barrels and while the 10” ones are good, they don’t measure up to the 14” ones at 25 yards. Moreover, they aren’t fussy, albeit they much prefer JSB/AA over H&N.

I’ve attached these barrels to different platforms: C02, PCP, and pumper——they perform great, particularly the longer ones, but they’d change their pellet preference when you transfer them from one platform to another, although it’s just usually between AA/JSB 8gr and 10gr pellets in my experience.

Feinwerkbau 65, side lever recoiless springer.
I had one for a while, I absolutely loved it, but my right elbow is not good, and it caused me great discomfort when cocking it.
I couldn't bear to have it but not be able to use it, so it caused me even greater pain to part with it. 😭

Decent recoilless springer much easier to use than ssp. If ssp is your choice then consider Gamo PR45. Don't be taken in by the look of the 'anatomical' grips of other pistols, etc. Main thing is to wherever possible try before you buy as fit is more important than with a rifle.
