PSA: Tuxing back on amazon

They are pretty much a copy of the Nomad2 which is £600, they are apparently by the same peeps in the same factory, so when my Nomad finally pops its clogs, I'll be getting one of these as a replacement.....
Are we sure the Nomad 2 isn't just a copy of Tuxing rebranded and price quadrupled?

Yeah I went with this one as no hassle with water etc.

I did read one review on Amazon saying the 12v is pants so just get an inverter and use the 230, our van has a 230v socket already so we’re spoilt
Hmmm that's odd as the 230V is fed to the PSU that drops it down to 12V DC, the 12V "in" line is a direct connection so it shouldn't make any difference unless the 12V power source isn't up to the job.

I've got the external PSU variant, didn't plan to use 230V when out and about so smaller form factor not having to carry around a redundant PSU worked for me, but mostly my thinking was the PSU is the weakest element. Company's like this don't really factor in % capacity rating for longevity (i.e if the pump requires 12V 600W, they'll pair it with a 600w PSU to save money with little care that PSU's shouldn't be run to max capacity) So it's dead easy to just get a new one if it burns out (which undoubtably it will). Mine 100% runs better direct from the car than it does from the PSU as it's very clear the PSU can't handle the load.

Running off the PSU, when you turn the pump on the fan cuts out for a good few seconds while it struggles to deal with the starting load of the motor and then kicks back in.

Running direct off the car battery, the fan never cuts out and the pump runs faster as the car can give it the current it needs.

Is this with the car engine running?
Yes, so technically you'll be running it at circa 14V but the manual does specify to ensure the engine is running when operating the pump via a car. Well, My manual does anyway, can't vouch for the others 😁

When I've got a spare bit of cash (LOL) I'll be looking to upgrade the supplied PSU for something a little more substantial and better suited to the task. There were are number of Amazon reviews for my unit that complained about the PSU burning out which makes sense when you start to look at everything and do the maths. To be fair to it, I've had 4-5 months now and "touch wood" it's been sound as a pound but I do prefer running it off the car, the pump just sounds like it's struggling off the PSU 👍

Yep sure is, Tuxing rebranded, mine had a bearing failure (Tuxing version Auto cut off) but they sent the parts and all working well again now.

Good little compressors.

Mine arrived this morning. Definitely wasn't expecting a bank holiday weekend delivery.

I dug out my old mk1 Superten to give it a test drive, and it peaked at 32.5 degrees filling the 0.2L buddy bottle to 220 from empty. Which is good, as filling the thing manually left me too wrecked to shoot even back when I was 18.

My only minor gripe so far is that the threading on the case screw holes could be better. They've just drilled and threaded the sheet metal frame rather than using a threaded insert.I had it open to check that it was set to 240v (it was), and the thread on 2 of the holes was already stripped, and I don't see the rest of them standing up well to repeated maintenance. Easy enough to fix for the price of the compressor, but still annoying.

Good shout on the storage @Nic-FX

I got this one, came with foam which was shaped for various kit but actually cut OK to fix the compressor. I used a couple of bits of the packaging foam from the original box to go in the base

I’ll probably 3d print some trays for the top box
