Piston seal material

I tried couple too in my original mod 50 & mercury 635 magnum, found the same with a slammy feel too, went back to leather original seal in the mod 50 & O ring in the 635.
Slammy suggests a slack fit, and the cure was a single dry fire, which sized the seal.

It did in the Original 45, Anschutz 335 and various Webleys. Perhaps a slightly out of round cylinder?
.
Maybe ,but in both guns? the webley ones in the vulcan seemed to work ok though, I ended up turning the one for the mod 50 down to a slim maybe 5mm buffer washer & with the original leather seal rejuvinated with hempseed oil got it up to 11 with hobbys in .22 with a hw 97 spring & guide in it shot well too. Took about 5 years though & lots of stripdowns, springs etc.

Yes i believe Terry Robb mentioned doing that on his website and also on a note enclosed with his seals. It did with a PTFE piston head he made for me for a BSA Airsporter that i had back in the late 70s that had the factory ally piston head and 'o'ring setup.
