Paying for items

BT for me, the checks one has to go through online now are tiresome, but effective.
Cash for FF if required.
Tend only to deal with people I have used before 😉👍

Paypal, bank transfer, cash, cheque, old guns- makes very little difference how its done. A decent seller will make sure you know what youre getting, and if it isnt, they will sort thingsd out one way or another. If its as bad one, it doesnt matter as youre not getting anything back.

paypal f&f is fine, just leave comments blank (no mention of airguns), bank transfer also good but cash face to face is the best/safest.

The last item l sold on here ( a scope) l posted it to the buyer with bank details enclosed.I figured he was a long standing member and wasn't going to get a bad reputation over a few quid.Trust works both ways.

I use PayPal F&F as I dont have online banking and it's a pain going down the bank to do the transfer. Regarding sellers on here, a quick look at thier posting history and a chat on the telephone is about the only way you can make an assessment as to trustworthiness, to a degree you have to put your faith in your fellow man 🤷🏼‍♂️, I haven't been bitten yet 🤞.

You can't beat a good old fashioned face to face transaction with proper cash. A chat and a handshake is just the civilised thing to do 🙂👍🏻

My prefered after that, when dealing with a trusted member, is a bank transfer. Paypal is ok - I've used it a couple of times with no issues but, as already said, just don't give them slightest clue as to what the transaction is for 👍🏻
Absolutely agree with your first paragraph, it would be great in the future of they invented teleport machines at reasonable cost🙂.

One little Caution about PayPal F&F....

I sent some money via this to a somebody whom I know and trust, having "Cut and pasted" his Email address - sent off £80 or so which did not arrive.

Looking very carefully at my PayPal transaction EMail the Email address for the recipient was very slightly different - not sure how this happened!

Of course, being F&F there was no come back on PayPal and my EMails to the lucky recipient were unanswered, surprisingly!
Also, as it was sort of gun related, I did not want to draw attention to the transaction with PayPal.....

Double check everything!!!

If you want to be sure, and you're sending anything like a significant sum of money (either by bank transfer or PayPal), send £1 first and check it's been received, then send the balance.

I used to be easy going...
But recently had a message from PayPal saying about "holding payments" for whatever reason.
No thanks, it's me hard earned, so bank transfer now until the PayPal is sorted...

I use bank to bank transfer and have had no issues. I steer clear of PayPal 👍🤓

Any suggestion of selling or buying air weapons risk PP putting a block on sellers and buyers accounts
I've not used PP for this reason for a while

BACS if there's enough trust
Face to face for anything else

Distance buying and selling has its own risks (not least of these, is sending money to someone you may not know personally). As a buyer, make sure you do due diligence and ask the questions you need, to assure you that you understand what you're buying
As a seller, don't make any false claims, and describe the item accurately
After all that, it's simply Caveat Emptor

Everything can be negotiated. A decent deposit and balance in cash on collection does not seem unreasonable to me. I've never had any problems on this forum - folk tend to be on the generous side - but if buying a gun, I really do prefer to be careful about the seller's history and pick it up in person; the drive is merely an insurance against future hassle and stress.
I've seen how items posted by carrier are treated in the local delivery depot, and we've had 2 threads recently complaining about damage blamed on bad packaging.

A few years ago, an acquaintance had an expensive gun AND SCOPE disappear.
He paid by PayPal. Initially pp accepted his claim and ( reassuringly) said they would process the claim. They then came back to him referring him to their terms and emphatically refused to take it any further. He accepted this but asked if they would compensate for the scope ( a KAHLES )
They got back to him stating that it was part of a gun.
I’ve bought things through my son’s PayPal account but would NEVER buy or sell an airgun involving them.
A lot of people seem to — but if something goes wrong they would lose AND have no redress !

Have always used PayPal friend and family. I do not have internet banking ....
Never mentioned on PayPal when buying an air gun sale or parts..
Just happy birthday..
So far the people I dealt with have been a credit to forum and absolute gentlemen.
Of course this is no guarantee but so far so good.
