Paying for items

I'm fluent in both and am happy to use whatever the seller prefers.
Personally I'd prefer BT but PP isn't a deal breaker. F2F is pretty rare by and large, you've got to pay somehow so options are limited anyway.

I personally would like to see Feedback left from the buyer and seller to be mandatory for every transaction .
T'would be nicer if the process was a little more intuitive. My feedback stats do not reflect the positive purchases I've made, which is a shame., but I accept that not everybody can get their head around it.

I can say I've bought many items on here without a problem but always with long standing members mostly or newer members with good feedback
Ive also had people send me items to check out before I've paid for them with the understanding that if I don't like it when it arrives I can send it back (at my cost) or if happy pay for it. I've never sent anything back yet lol so as said its down to trust which works both ways

The fact you have to have 50 meaningful posts before you can even get in the sales on here rules out most scammers, but saying that I've read threads where it has gone wrong so isn't 100% guaranteed.

guntrader is a different kettle of fish but saying that I've bought Plenty of items without problem on it and paid bank transfer or PayPal f&f yes I know it's a risk but a calculated one for me as I always call them on the supplied phone number and have a chat and can get a feel of if they are genuine or not and how much knew know about guns,I've also called some numbers multiple times without an answer so refused to deal

Face to face obviously the best and safest option but sometimes not viable

So you pay your money and take your chance I guess

I've always used PayPal Friends & Family when paying for an item on a forum, and so far I've never had any problems whatsoever.

Paypay works fine as long as you don't mention anything to do with guns.
Use telescope or optical equipment instead of telescopic sight for instance.

That's fine till you have a problem then when the seller says honest I did post the gun you don't have a leg to stand on. Why people risk it when bank transfer is so easy is beyond me

Bought a few things of fellow members on this forum using bank transfer. I do try and research the seller by seeing how long they’ve been a member on here and check out a few of their posts. I wouldn’t buy anything off someone who has recently joined. Ideally the item I take interest to would be local to see it face to face but that isn’t usually an option. I think after a while on here you ‘get to know’ the genuine guys.

Because if you don't have internet banking how can you buy? Some can't go to banks to do a transfer as the bankers have closed them down in the town's.. for some it is the only option..

But it's not a option when it's gun related it could lead to all sorts problems

If its the only option for some It's the risk they take.. 😊

I think if the feedback system was easier to use then more buyers and sellers would use it. I also would like to it made compulsory for buyers to leave feedback. My suggestion would be a button is added to every sales thread that links directly to feedback and automatically copies the sales thread link. Although it would take a better computer mind than mine to make this happen.
I have used Paypal gift and bank transfer to make and receive payments on this forum with no problems so far.

I recently sent Cash via RM, not cheap but the only way to do and get insurance if it goes pear shape.

I could have put the cash in with the item and still used the correct service but the item was sent direct to the member doing the work for me( I never had in in my hands before the member got it ) , So it cost me £8 or so to post the cash .

Sorry for re-opening an old post. But has anyone tried the below when selling from here:

List a gun on here. Agree a price. Set up an eBay listing for an accessory included in the deal and the buyer then buys through eBay and you are both protected and the money 'securely' dealt with by eBay.

I know you can't list guns on eBay but you can list accessories. Plus they can see your feedback on eBay, to show you are a trusted seller.

What are your thoughts on this?

Its just as pointless as you cant sell rifles on ebay, and you will pay 13% for the privilege of nothing.

I use PayPal but always use a pmt reference that's not shooting related, Boots, trophy etc

If its a well known member with plenty of posts, Feedback etc then anyway will be safe. Dealing with someone new you will always be taking a chance, In that case if any concern then cash in hand.

If you then have an issue and either one goes to eBay and mentions a prohibited item then you both have your accounts closed.

It's not unknown to do a face to face and then find out later there is an issue that was covered up and bodged.
