Just watching some reruns of river monsters.

To be fair what this guy achieved will take some following, even in years from now.

Sucessfully landing most of the biggest fish species in each country.

Survived a plane crash during filming, nearly struck by lightening, he tore his bicep off the bone whilst landing a huge stingray, headbutted in the sturnum by an huge arapaima.

Interesting guy, any other facts Ive missed?

Everything he’s ever done is utter dross. The entire premise of a ‘river monster’ eating villagers, which invariably turns out to be a catfish, is fit for ceebeebies at best.

Yeah thats just the narative mate chill out, you cant fake landing bullsharks and huge rays or catching aligator garr and Arapaima I saw him tear chunks from his hands on multiple occasions noodle catfish swim with eels and piranas, hand grab an anaconda, even swam with a live croc in africa and touched it! And even sharks and large grouper which are very dangerous, list goes on and on, nothing the crew could do if they turned on him, i mean look how easy steve irwin died.

For a guy in his 60s the guy is dedicated more than most to stay up all night in the amazon with bot flies biting you you can see his passion.

So I dunno what cbeebies you been watching 😆

If you dont believe people die in other countries due to fish attacks or accidents you dont know much about it mate.

The method of fishing with longlines is notoriously dangerous and has claimed many lives if you get connected to something big and you get a hook in you.

It takes a fish half your weight to drag you to your death, and if you drown somewhere like the amazon your going to be bones in a few hours thats just fact.

But that isn’t how it’s portrayed, or at least from what I’ve seen of it.
The suggestion in the show is that these ‘river monsters’ are taking people going about their everyday business ; washing, swimming etc.

In my eyes being conected to a ray or bullshark anything big, for 2 or 3 even 4 hours is no joke, saw him break one rod looked big enough for swordfish.

The guy is the legit goat if you ask me look at his record, I heard the reason they stopped the program is because he caught just about everything they asked him too, so they ran out of species.😆

Err Yeahhh !

Do you think stuff like that doesnt happen?

Watch the series properly and you will see people with scars lots of scars and real accounts, and people die due to being impaled by stingrays from accidently stepping on them then they get dragged away, people go missing regularly in remote places of the world anywhere near water.

But remember they have to create a narative to draw in the interest of the general public its a series that was on national tv remember it has to get views.

But the fishing part is very real.

Ok, you like the guy, that’s fine. I find the whole thing a bit naff tbh. David Attenborough has managed to forge a decent enough career without a BS narrative, so really, is it needed?

If you fancy something a bit more hardcore and edgy, give Horrible Histories a try 👍🏻

I've never been into fishing but binge watched his programmes.

Exactly mate gets people interest, because I think most people are so detatched in the modern world.

But i live on a riverbank and know first hand how dangerous water alone can be but add large species of fish into the mix and then it becomes even more so.

I mean I throw all my meat scaps from cooking into the river from my kitchen window and its surprising how quickly they dissapear be it from small trout or crayfish.

But imagine throwning scraps of meat into a tributory of the amazon.I doubt it would get to the bottom.

On one episode I saw them talking about throwing a hippos head in for chum, but they didnt want to attract crocs.

It's a Fish, It's a Fish, even if you don't like angling, the places he goes are extraordinary, he uses some spot on tackle,I think he makes Robson Green look a wimp, Good luck 🤞

Fish on! Fish on! 😅 it is anoying but I think its to let the crew know to start rolling the cameras if not already doing so, or the sound guy.

Im into fishing mate and fishing its what he does 🙄

All rivers have horrible histories and at some point, yes the show focuses on big fish and what they are capable elsewhere in the world.

If you cannot accept that there are dangerous waters and dangerous fish you dont have to watch, turn the channel but from a fisherman to fisherman i appreciate the power of some of the species he has caught, and how hard some of them are to catch.

Wasnt it before christmas that swimmer in australia got eaten by a shark and filmed by people on the rocks by nearby, he was gone in seconds just a pool of blood poor guys death is now on youtube.

Was a real stark reminder people dont get killed by fish just to make tv series.

I certainly wouldnt want to swim in the cogo with shoals of these hunting around, they have been known to be very aggresive and hunt in packs during the catfish runs, will head towards movement.

Saying David Attenborough has “managed to form a decent enough career” must be one of the most understated statements ever.
