That’s just a big stickleback, he’s holding it out at full arms length, it’s an old fisherman’s trick to make it look bigger…. I’ve done it myself plenty of times.

Irony is the people who are the most cynical regarding any subject often know the least about it, and dont appreciate a feat when even when its there on video.
Yes a fish might be landed in seconds in a clip but to catch it will have involed multiple plane journeys halfway around the world, mutiple car journeys boat journeys then often weeks of effort, sleepness nights and insect bites to get that one minute clip you see.

Im an angler but but do find the program irritating to watch. The premise of why he is at a certain location is interesting but doesnt need the over dramatisation and the need to remind the audience numerous times.
Tell me the stories, go catch the fish.

Most people don’t understand the complexities of catching big fish, the planning, preparation, baiting etc just in the hope of catching that one big fish, sitting for days on end, it’s a massive challenge most pleasure anglers don’t realise.
My lads go carp fishing here’s a couple of fish they’ve caught.

Each to their own Ive watched the entire series and tbf a lot of the stories are based on real events with real people so I personally dont disbelieve much of whats said especially when people are speaking about dead relatives.
Like the one where one getlemans wife died due to a freak accident where a fish impaled itself in her eye socket due to it striking on her neclace shining in the sun.
Or the grouper that was cut open to find a human head inside it.
Or the irish diver who got attatcked by the conger eel, scars to prove.
Or the other guy who lost his thumb to an eel and they grafted a toe on.
Cant really fake that stuff.
Any doubts put grouper attacks diver into youtube or eell attacks diver or humbolt squid, shark baracuda you name it its all very real to me, wasnt it only last year a man died in front of tourist eating breakfast in egpt by shark, but you will still get people saying it was fake or.something

I’ve got bait boxes older than you mate. I’ve fished for about 45 years, and can spot a tall tale when I see one.
Nobody is denying that to go to Africa or wherever and catch a 30lb tiger fish isn’t an achievement, but please don’t crack on that anyone that sees through the JW pantomime is some kind of numptie.

Do appeciate a man at his age doing what hes done yes.
So why are they tall tales? When hes catching fish on video
I dont know how old you are (just like you dont know how old Iam) but to catch a 400ibs ray would take some stamina along with everything else hes caught like the big bullsharks.
Tell me another fisherman his age with the portfolio he has?

Ohhh ok really what would you know about travelling all over the world making a sucessfull fishing series? Bet you couldnt do what hes done, the geezer looks like he could do a marathon after landing a 10 foot shark nearly 70 come on man! Give some credit where credit ie due
And before you start with your usumptions again you dont know me from adam so how do you come to the conclusion you have fished longer than ive been alive huh?
And anyway I know plenty of fellas fished longer than me doesnt mean they are anygood at it

Should’ve done one on John Wilson, for you young ones he’s from the 80s.. he used to catch just average fish.
But was quite enjoyable viewing.

You’ve even said it yourself, but you call it a ‘narrative’. I call it a pantomime or BS.
Nobody is denying he catches big fish in far flung places, that’s obvious. It’s the nonsense that goes with it spoils his shows.
Honestly, I’ve probably watched 5 or 6 of his shows. I found the whole experience tedious, farcical, and bordering on parody.

Some people just hate on Jeremy Wade… poor Jeremy all he wants to do is show the viewers his angling prowess on catching monster fish with big teeth… now if it was that C#£T Tim Shaw off car sos I’d understand but I’m confused by all the hate on Jezza.

I know good old Jezza only does the fishing part, and he doesnt quit thats what i like about him even if that means swimming accross a river in full flow to stop a goonch snagging him, or fishing with man eating tigers walking about, he will keep on fishing, and have a go at anything, hes a top man old Jezza and has risked his life for the filming of that series and survived a plane crash which could have killed the entire crew, hes the goat as far as british celebrity fishermen go in my opinion.
Now if I had even mentioned that idiot Robson green Id be agreeing with the cyincs thats one bloke I cannot bare, if I was in his company on a boat for longer than half an hour, either He would be going overboard attatched to the anchor or I would.
