HW95K Good or not so good

Very tempted with a HW95K read the reviews and watched youtube videos but opinions very conflicting. From a real world position what are members views good or bad on this gun .
Cheers Alex
Like mine...a lot; though it sports a proper, sight equipped full length barrel, in .20 caliber.

Bought one brand new just over a year ago. Always had a sneaking admiration for Weihrauch since I was a kid, so decided to scratch the itch on an impulse buy as I was walking out the shop having just bought a PCP but having declined the price of a compressor.

Absolutely supreme out of the box. So smooth and easy, and stunningly accurate.

Was going to go inside to do a bit of fine tuning but daren’t touch it given that it shoots so well.

Added a brass trigger guard and brass stock bolts, nothing more needed.

Superb rifle. Probably my favourite to shoot, just puts a smile on the face.

…that is when I can tear it away from my niece who has become even more attached to it than I.

mines ,177 ,accurate as my pcbs ,untuned gun has a bit of a trang when shot ,a bit on the heavy side ,but well built and solid hence its heavy , nice trigger ,fiddly to load ,but all underleavers will be , have a 35 and 99 as well ,could i pick only one ? to keep , to be honest its a hard choice ,but i think the 99

When did the HW95 come with a underlever or have you replied to the wrong thread?

Bought mine 6 months ago, .177 shot very accurately (after cleaning the gunk out of the barrel) albeit with a proper twang and very hold sensitive. Now given it a thorough de-burring, polished the piston, fitted tbt kit and a 26mm britseal seal. Calmed it down a lot. Still a little 'flippy' but nicer to fire. GET ONE! (theres 1 on the sales section)

I've had one a long time, but rarely use it since I got PCPs. However, I have read articles, reviews and queries about them over the years. There seems to be a view that their accuracy can be improved by adding weight to the barrel to reduce "barrel flip".
The earlier ones had longer barrels with a barrel weight rather than a silencer. My recollection is that when I bought mine which is a 95k (for karbine) Weihrauch had just started to sell them with screw cut barrels and silencers and even the 95k still had a very long barrel. Not long afterwards HW did reduce the length of the barrels. I suspect that these changes contributed to the "flippiness" of more recent 95s because their barrels became shorter and lighter than in the original designs.
Just my opinion, but I wouldn't buy a lightweight springer (like the 95) in .177 because .22 is more air efficient and therefore should, if all other things are equal, be smoother to shoot.

Excellent rifle and very accurate. However if you want the best shot cycle out of it, you'll want to install a decent snug fitting top hat and guide, and then you'll probably have to shorten the spring to reduce the preload. 10.5ftlb is the nicest I've found with it. Starts to shoot harsh and hard to control at 11 and more than that will be horrible and incredibly frustrating shooting. Get a DM80 mod on the carbine barrel to add weight, look classy and moderate sound very well too.

Forget groups, the 95k will bench if you set it up like this👌🏻 Top 3 targets from left was zeroing shots, this card was set at 25 yards, and yes it's a 50mtr rim fire card but you get the idea.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but I love mine. To be fair I've removed the twang with a TBT kit. Rowan set back trigger, brass safety catch, Brit seals breech and piston seals, replaced the rocket launcher Weihrauch mod with a Dm80 moderator and settled on a simple Hawke Vantage 4x32 with BKL mounts after fannying round with various scopes. After following Tinbum's YouTube vids it's a doddle to strip and maintain and it was knocking out 11.4 with 7.0 grain Hobbys, but I've shortened the spring a tad so it should be about just under 11 with 8.44's (just waiting on a new Chrono). Quick lock time, bit snappy but if I do my bit consistently very, very accurate.
It's just as happy pinging targets from the garden bench as it is at pest control to about 35m. Considered a CS stock but don't feel the real need if I'm honest. It'd take a hell of a lot to part ways with it.👍

I have one in .20, it was a little snappy when I got it. But I put a TBT kit in, including short stroke, a Britseal, and polished and glided the piston.
I also cleaned up and eased the breech latch rod assembly, as it was very stiff and causing stringing.
It now is very accurate, very smooth, yet still has a brisk, but nice shot cycle, these can be gems with a little fettling.

Read the HW95 world beater thread it’s a sticky thread on the Springer Longe sub forum, that will give you all the info you need ( and more about car crashes, quantum physics, stubbornness and experiences with the 95).

Ive got an older .22 model I’ve recently refurbished, it’s as good and accurate as anything else only limited by the x4 scope but still capable of 55 yard knockdowns and 5 pence sized groups at 30 yards on paper.

I've got a fixed 4x scope after doing all the 4-12x44 and 3-9x40 thing. After going through the motions I reckon a quality 6x40 fixed would be the ideal fit for the 95. All eyes being equal obviously.....

I agree, it’s a light pointable field rifle that doesn’t need a heavy lump on board. I confess my 4x is a Leupold FXll 4x33 is worth more (when new) than the rifle cost to buy and refurb 😳 but the glass is superb and it’s so lightweight it adds to the package more that the bigger scopes ever would.

Eye mileage differs so much, it’s my age 😂 so open sights are sadly a thing of the past.

Not wanting to derail the thread can I just quickly ask which is the breech latch rod and what is ‘stringing’, and how does the first cause the latter ?
