HW80 .25 FAC Worth Getting?

I have a spare .25 FAC air slot and I was thinking about a HW80K in .25 at around 18-20FPE.

I like this power level as I found it very versatile in a .22 pcp rifle I own. Anything further I have the HMR.

How does the HW80 shoot at this power level compared say to a .22 sub12 97K?
Afternoon Ridd.
The HW 80K is a good rifle but be aware that adding extra oomph adds extra recoil which is accuracy killing in a springer. Personally I would not have an FAC spring gun. There are many decent PCPs for sale which will deliver the goods better than even an HW.
Don't want to be all doom and gloom but the facts speak for themselves.
Good luck with your search.

A decent sub12 80 will fetch decent money, an FAC 80 worth pennies. Personally I’d go for hatsan 125 or 135 both will achieve mid 20’s and you won’t lose a lot if you get bored. Lottery barrels but great Quattro triggers.

They're fun but I wouldn't say they're worth it to put on your fac mate, would be better with a .25 pcp to really stretch out the range :)

I can't comment on the HW80 but in FAC, my .25 BSA R10 is amazingly accurate and hits HARD! It was custom made by John Bowkett and he tests his rifles at 50m and the results are great.
Been trying to sell mine as its no longer used but even though it's cheap as chips for a custom made rifle, they are hard to sell due to a limited audience.
I'd say go for pcp in 25cal fac and enjoy the whack you hear when you connect with your quarry, you'll love it 👌

Don't disregard the fac hw80 they are class at higher power I'm seeing to many comments saying fac springs don't work your all wrong the best springer I ever shot is a fac hw80 if you have obviously never tried one so why even comment yea a tuned sub 12 recoils like a spud gun but the 80 face tuned the shot cycle is so fast it's probably even less hold sensitive also 22 and 25 work the same in the 80 I've got both barrels and both like h&n ftt the best it's just the obvious a 25 is slower so slightly more loopy but both are pcp Lazer accurate with the right off hand shooting technique

Hard to say as the cocking effort will be a bit , i would stick to a PCP in .25 Cal 👍
My .22 in FAC at 18ftlbs is no more harder to cock than if it was sub12 .

I can cock it with my little finger but its not something I do as its not worth the risk and I understand I may be stronger than others .

If you can get one that's already fac it would be worth it because they go for next to nothing. I saw one in a gun shop a couple of years ago, I think it was £90. I thought, that's cheap, then I saw "fac" written on the back of the sales ticket.

Go for it,
I used to have a 25 fac 80 many years agi running at 24ft lbs,
Very useful tool

What, and how far away, are you going to shoot with a FAC springer that you won't shoot with a Sub 12 springer ?

I'm not the best springer shooter- but I really don't think a springer being FAC would allow me to take further shots or on different quarry.

If my opinions and gun cabinet was unlimited- I probably would have a nice 20ish ft lb springer. But under the UK system - it would be the lowest or priorities.

They do say that the HW80s shoot best at around 18-20ft lbs.

I've got M3 FX Impact on .25 calibre for sale if you are interested. Currently pushing out around 80 foot pounds, but these are infinitely adjustable, (came from factory with this setting and has never been adjusted).

Nice thread revival 😎
Lots of negativity about with regards to .25 Cal. springers (in both sub 12 & FAC), but after acquiring a well fettled .22 MK1 80 not long ago, i can't imagine anything more pleasant than a .25 Cal. version shooting at around 20 fpe, possibly a tad more 😎
My current sub 12/25 boinger shoots 20.06 grain FTT's around the 500 fps mark, and the same goes for my Leshiy PCP, and coupled with the .22 barrel + RS, the other .177 & .20 barrels are practically unused and gathering dust.
The only "downside" that i can see to owning a .25 cal FAC springer, is moving it into the secondary market if it doesn't hit the spot, but i for one, would love to try one 👍
