Hi all, I'm new here and hoping you can help me...
Back in 2003 I had a gorgeous and superbly accurate hunting outfit comprising a tuned HW97K with a scope that was designed for high-calibre rifles rather than air files, so not made specifically for air rifles by brands such as AGS/PAO.
I've had 5 strokes since then and I am trying to work out that scope that I had, I've spent weeks searching and browsing pictures on the internet to no avail, I took pictures of it for insurance purposes but no longer have them.
I bought said outfit and had it tuned at Countryway in West Malling in Kent in 2003. Unfortunately, it was in my car when IT was stolen in 2005 and the thieving b@st@rd$ even used it to shoot my car up (my car was soon recovered - minus engine, suspension, seats and my treasured outfit).
The scope was Mil-Dot IR red/green with 6 or 7 levels of each with the intensity turret containing the battery at the rear of and fixed above the focus ring, rear of the magnification ring which I think was 4-16. It was AO and came with a huge detachable sunshade probably 5 inches or more as well as lens covers of the type connected by an elasticated cord. The manual for it had a picture of it mounted to something akin to an H&K G3, as I said it was certainly not designed for use with air rifles. When mounted to the HW-97K it overlapped the pellet loading access point at the breach by some considerable degree making loading quite awkward. I'm sure it had a 50mm objective lens.
I can safely say it was not by AGS, PAO, Hawke or any of the other mainstream air rifle scope manufacturers. I had a scope from Edgar Brothers around the time but have been unable to match any pictures of their scopes of the time with what was mounted to my HW97K. I'm sure it cost over £200 at the time I bought it.
If anyone can work out or suggest what I had I would be eternally grateful as I haven't done any shooting since this outfit was stolen and I would dearly love to re-live the awesome days I had with my outfit 20 years ago before I have yet another stroke!!!
Thanks and regards,
Guy
