Government alerts

See it for what it is!.
Yet another test on how to control the plebs, the useless eaters, the minions.
If this is such a good thing why wasn't it introduced years ago?!.
It can't be disabled even although you've changed your phone settings?,i've disabled mine,it'll be interesting to see if that's true or not, nothing would surprise me.
The video in the link states that these alerts 'don't use your phone number, collect data or track your movements'.....that's reminiscent of something that happened not too long ago, what was it again?...oh yes i remember..being told to take a certain medical procedure that was entirely safe & prevented a certain virus!.
They might fool you but they sure as hell don't fool me!.

I don't mind getting the alert but what really boils my pish is that I won't be able to use any other feature of my phone until I have reacted to it. It sounds like a minor thing but it's the principle to me. For that reason, I'm out.

Other countries have been using this technology for quite some time to great effect. I don't know much about the american system but I'm aware the japanese system has saved a lot of lives by getting alerts of impending earthquakes out, giving the populations crucial few seconds of advance warning to get out/away from buildings/structures and seek some safe cover. Granted we don't see much of devestating earthquakes here, but we do get flooding, storm surge's and other extreme weather events that have and will continue to take peoples lives in this country. This could go a long way to help get warnings out to people in affected areas so they can get themselves and their fammilies to safety before it's too late.

Your phone has a limit to how much sound it can produce, this technology doesnt change that, it can't!! It's nothing more than a message tone different to the one you're used to hearing and if you have your notification volume set low it might be a bit louder.....thats it....it's just an over elaborate text message.

Bearing in mind the whole premise of this system is to warn you of potential life-threatning danger so you can take appropriate action to avoid being killed, hurt or trapped and reduce the possability that rescue crews will then need to potentially risk their lives to come and save you, I highly welcome it and honestly don't believe it's taken the UK this long to implement it fully.

The World Health Organization might just want to utilise the use of this fantastic alert system after our 'government' sign the pandemic treaty giving them full power over this country & the people, powers to call pandemics, enforce lockdowns & vaccinations & decide when any pandemics are over....let that sink in.

Oh come on!. Your being a bit harsh there, it's not like certain TV channels use propergergander and are employees of the government for goodness sake. I'm off to watch Eastenders omnibus, then doing some research because, I quite fancy getting some breasts, search for a bloke, leave my wife and children.. and call my self a Manoide Z7 rather than a hetrosexual.

Any advice on size would be much appreciated, my pic is below:

Have you looked at the permissions that this app has and it can't be totally disabled or removed, it's off on mine for sure.

Apparently only works on Android 11 and above according to .Gov website.
I'm still on 9 so doesn't even have the setting for emergency alert on/off.
Will be interesting to see if anything happens during the test

Apps will not respond, until it has been acknowledged.

If you don’t want it on your iPhone Settings - Notifications scroll to the bottom and the option is there to turn them off
