Evening all. I really fancy a FX Impact M3 .
What's everyone's view? I have cash here and it's burning a hole in my pocket. Have a mate who's telling me to stay well clear.
Any advice would be appreciated

If you’re looking for a high-end, precision air rifle and don’t mind the complexity and cost, the FX Impact M3 is a great choice. However, if you prefer something more straightforward and less maintenance-intensive, you might want to consider other options. It’s always a good idea to handle and test the rifle, if possible, before making a decision.

Your mate might have valid concerns depending on your experience level and what you’re looking for in an air rifle. If you’re confident in your ability to manage a high-performance rifle and are looking for top-notch accuracy and versatility, go for the FX Impact M3. Otherwise, consider other models that might better suit your needs.

Never had a m3 but have had several mk1’s and mk2,s and when they are tuned correctly and assembled correctly they are good but the problem and be keeping them there , they aren’t bad but they do require tweaking to stay on song .
This is based on both fac and sub 12 guns

I was looking at the M3 a couple of years ago, ended up getting an AirMaks Krait as one came up near me - it’s been great!
A doddle to tune, I’ve even changed calibre now - so easy to do, in no way am I technical.

Krait 4k.webp

I tried the prophet 3, impact M3, ghost and cricket and went for the Krait over the ghost as the krait has a higher mag capacity and was noticeably quieter, other than that the ghost came in a close 2nd.

Def have a shoulder and shoot of as many different guns as you can before parting with your hard earned cash - even if it is burning a hole in your pocket! 😆

I bought a .25 FAC model a few weeks ago and I've only had a few sessions putting through it's paces so far. It's stupidly accurate ( only out to around 70 metres so far) and easy enough to change the power settings so far. It was already set up & tuned for what I wanted when I got it so that took the stress out of doing it myself, which was a deal breaker for me. As already said, if you have the time & patience to tune it/ set it up or you can get someone to do it for you then it's the nuts.

My M3 is one of my favourite guns, possibly a contender for the top slot. I have more comfortable guns, but the M3 is just a good package in pretty much every respect. Laser accurate, trouble free, consistent, very quiet, will do a tin of pellets off one fill, and very slick in operation. Plenty of stuff comes close or matches the various qualities, but the M3 just seems to tick most boxes with very few cons.

I bought new as I didn't want to risk buying one that had been tinkered with, and I have never regretted spending £1700 on it, which is a pretty good indicator, as I'm a right fussy tw@t lol

Thanks for the advice.
Think I'll plump for a new one to be on safe side.😀
Used are OK, but I would want it to come from a trusted member on here that either hasn't tinkered with it and says the gun is perfect, or a well respected tuner that has improved it even more (Jeffsky or someone like that).

All I can say is i'd expect to do a full rebuild from the ground up on any FX I buy, my MkII came to me with a known issue and it had been messed with, so I did the obvious and fully rebuilt it properly, it's now one of the most consistent and accurate guns I own, and I own 'a few'.

M3 are great alot to adjust and can cause issues if you dont understand what your adjusting and why your adjusting it. And dont go by Youtube videos if your buying a sub12 most on there are from US and are full power there is a massive diference both on power and the internals parts they look the same but are totaly different on set up. There not my cup off tea I like a bit off wood on my rifles.

So did you get one? I am very seriously considering one at the moment.

I’ve owned a mk1 and a mk2. The mk2 had a lot to like: good trigger, very accurate, very consistent, quiet, could shoot down to 35 bar - lots of shots. Easy to get parts, loads of strip down videos on the net..

Just couldn’t get on with the balance of it. I decided it’s great if you’re shooting from a bench but there are definitely nicer rifles to carry.

Also, the times I fumbled the magazines trying to load pellets in a hurry.. again great if you’re calm and sat rested, but not great with cold fingers in a rush.

Speed loader and shaker remove most of the issues, you only need to put one pellet in and then just tip a tray in, lid back on and away you go.

Get a AGT. Far more simple to work on and very accurate
Had one (one in my profile pic) had it a week, grouped like a shotgun and had pellet jams nearly every mag. Sent it back to Edgar Brothers, who had it 4 weeks and so say replaced the barrel and tested it. Got it back, grouped even worse and the pellet jams just iced the cake. So they offered to replace it or refund. I went with refund, even if I got one that was accurate I think the mags are absolute s**t!

That doesn't sound great, but is literally the opposite of my U2 compact ownership - magazines are fine, it's never jammed, the accuracy and consistency is acceptable given it's not even had a pull through in my ownership, let alone a polish. I haven't tried slugs yet, but in theory an un-choked barrel should be better suited to them.

Ironically, my Impact MKII (which I fully stripped and rebuilt from the ground up) had its first in field failure last month and jammed with the magazine stuck fast and the cocking lever out, but that is the first failure since I got it and rebuilt it, it'll have easily 15K of pellets in that time, and on investigation it was the trigger plate bolt, a dab of blue thread lock, and it won't happen again.

Not knocking either platform, but the AGT is certainly a simpler design, easier to work on and less to go wrong, just like the Cricket and Leshiy which I also rate.
