That doesn’t even look like it’s been checkered TBH! Very faint…

I’m going to get mine re-checkered. 😂😂😂 Just dropped CS an email.

I went stippling due to the daft small checkering.
I wanted a CS stock but after getting one and finding the comb is a bit low for my S500, even with a low scope it's a bit meh.
I could get an adjustable comb but it is a "custom" stock I just wish it was a bit more customisation.

I have a couple of cs800 stocks , Pro Sport and HW97 they both have stippling as said above chequering is way too small and just doesn't look right.

I hope CS read this thread…. How much more difficult would it be to extend the checkering to look more in balance with the rest of the stock, especially when it’s done by laser? I’ve seen the speed of this process and it’d take seconds.

Email to CS sent…. I’ll let you know how I get on… 👍

Simple as Velcro shoelaces , if someone would get off their arse & feed some #s into a CNC unit.

I didn't get my CS500 new and although I agree about the chequering size, it didn't bother me. The ergonomics of the rifle are great. That said, my other CS500 which I still have is much chunkier but it's stippled. @robs5230 said my CS500 I just sold was pre CNC.

Definitely an earlier one Rob

I've a 98 I've really got to get a stock for, the CS700 or 800 I've got my eye on.
I do like skip chequering but agreed that the panels are way too small and look pointless.
So stipling seems the option to choose.

Just a thought...perhaps a letter writing campaign ? If enough folks air their grievances, perhaps it'll light a fire under someone's arse ? Or, is the customer(s) not always right ? If folks continue to accept the status quo, then, the status quo will remain.

Ay up mate…

I’ve had a reply from CS already …

Hi, The checkering patterns we apply to stocks is programmed into a CNC laser machine, these patterns once done are extremely difficult to change especially on the pistol grip as they are shaped to the curvature of the grip, it is not possible to just extend the pattern, first the old pattern would need to be removed and then re-cut and then the stock refinished making this operation quite costly. Where larger area's of grip is desired then we suggest going for stippling as this can be made to cover any area as it is hand done and free flowing. However the old checkering would need to be removed and the stock refinished after stippling.

We can discuss this if you wish to call in- best days are Tuesday to Thursday avoid 12.30 pm to 1-30 pm as we close for lunch usually.

regards

The stock feels great to me and you’d really need to shoulder one to experience this, but the above tells me it can be altered but at what cost? I ain’t about to chuck a load of money at it just for the aesthetics… ‘tis what it is’ 😂👍😋
