Simo Häyhä would of had a lot to say on this thread

You’re in the .22 club so definitely mental, same as me! And I think it’s a 1 in a 100 shotNah what? it's not a 1 in 50 with a vintage rifle standing? or I'm not mental?
Better than 1/50...you're not mental...like me, merely drivenNah what? it's not a 1 in 50 with a vintage rifle standing? or I'm not mental?
2 things I like Chris, you always step up, I can imagine you searching the forum for a shooting challenge.Best I can do for you Drake...granted, off my knee & only time I've tried.![]()
My " Daily Drivers" 1 ea. .177 & .22...only half mentalYou’re in the .22 club so definitely mental, same as me! And I think it’s a 1 in a 100 shot![]()
Got to admit I love hw springers, the .22 99 I got off Deleted member is a cracking little gun, it’s going with me on my next visit to my little permission. My " Daily Drivers" 1 ea. .177 & .22...only half mental![]()
Erm I’m a ex FT shooter and can’t shoot hft to save my life lol.Just had a google search for the guy, who's name is redacted, came first in the score card above.
An old bog shows he's an FT shooter with FT rig and places respectably in the Nationals and Inter-Regional Air Rifle comps in the UK.
Make of that what you will![]()
Not on its own who would drive it to the range? Some may have read I gave some love to a 1936 BSA Standard 'Long Tom' and ran it over the chrono today as it had been standing for a while.

Haven't shot this 1936 springer in a long time - chrono results
I've not shot this 1936 BSA Standard aka 'Long Tom' for a while. So thought I would run some pellets I don't use through it to clear the cobwebs. H&N FTT 5.53 and some new, new Wasps (H&N?), Bearing in mind these old British .22 air rifles true .22 at 5.6 cal, although my rifle feels tighter...airgunforums.co.uk
But my question is - Could an open sight springer win at least a small club HFT comp.
In posting the Chrono thread it reminded me I did a club HFT comp with my open sight 1936 BSA Standard 'Long Tom' and I had a screen shot somewhere on my laptop of the club HFT comp results - below.
I had to do the HFT course standing unsupported and ended 12 points behind the winner who used a scoped pcp and all three HFT positions, top section.
Now I'm pretty sure a better shot than me using an open sight springer and all three positions could win at least a small club HFT Comp over scoped pcp users.
What do you think?

Great lil rifles - the .22 has Shaun's work + a Brit seal inside, the .177, my work & a Brit sealsGot to admit I love hw springers, the .22 99 I got off Deleted member is a cracking little gun, it’s going with me on my next visit to my little permission.
You gotta use " The Force" PadawanJust imagine trying to allow 4 or 5 inches of wind deflection on a long one with open sights - you could easily be masking the KZ with the tunnel of your foresight and be aiming at thin air.
I think that could put in a very respectable effort with some practice - take the time to work out your shot impacts from 4 to 42 yards, practice from different positions and, practice ranging by eye (I envisage my steps to the target) and, don't get put off by comments or the nice kit on display during the day - you could do very wellSome may have read I gave some love to a 1936 BSA Standard 'Long Tom' and ran it over the chrono today as it had been standing for a while.
