So guys.I have an FX impact & Snowpeak pp750 (with drop block and bottle). These are both FAC.The FX fill max is 250 bar, the Snowpeak 300 bar.
I picked up my bottle are service from dealer.and it wont fill either to maximum pressures.
I filled the snowpeak via tank to about 200 bar.Thinking I could top it up with my Wulf compressor. No deal.It gets to 3000psi then blows a fuse
Seems to overheat easily.I just replaced filters and topped up oil.
Im guessing that not all gun dealers are able to fill tanks to sufficient pressure.Or is it my tank that has an issue.
I think im going to need an upgraded compressor too.
These issues didnt occur with my previous PCPs, but they ran at lower fill pressure.
Can anyone recommend a compressor thatll fill my guns without failing or struggling?
Thanks
PS maybe the Wulf has issues,as the power switch seems to not work.Ill happ[ily donate to any member whos happy to pay £20 for shipping.

Have a look at the Hills Compressor. I will gladly give you £20 for the Wulf as all my rifles only fill to 200 bar. Where in UK are you based? @The Robin . Is this acceptable or does it have to be posted in sales.

You can't fill to 300 bar from a 300 bar bottle. It's pressure that "powers" the transfer from one bottle to another. The moment you take a sip of air from the 300 bar bottle you no longer have 300 bar. The maximum transfer is to equalise pressure.

Typically, a 300 bar fill will never be 300 bar. If the bottle is filled from 200 bar to 300 bar it will typically get hot during the fill and then cool so the pressure drops.

Is your "dive" bottle rated to 300 bar or is it only 232 bar? Does the fill station fill to 300 bar?

You haven't given any bottle sizes, but typically a 300 bar dive bottle will fill most guns to 250 bar at least once, so it suggests that you are getting less than a 300 bar fill.

Have you looked at your dive bottle gauge to see what fill pressure you are getting?

Using GP Conway's excellent PCP Fills app if you had a 3L bottle filled to 300 bar you could fill a 250cc bottle from 125 bar to 250 bar 3 times before the 3L dropped to 262 bar and could no longer fill from 125 to 250 bar (picked 125 bar as fill point because you are running FAC).

3L source at 300 bar will fill a 480cc bottle from 125 bar to 250 twice.

If you filled a 250cc bottle from 125 to 300 bar with a compressor in one hit, once the bottle cooled it will not be at 300 bar.

Here's another post showing the drop in source bottle pressure.

How old is the Wulf? If it’s under 2 years old, it’ll still be covered by warranty.
I trust you used silicone oil, and only added a few drops?
That compressor. a re-badged Tuxing, is capable of pushing 300 bar into your rifles’ bottles. It’d be worth having a chat with Wulf about it, as it may be an easy remedy, and save you spending more money that is necessary.

Sorry, are you filling the Snowpeak PP750 to 300 bar. ?

Believe it is rated for 250 !

This all sounds rather dangerous to me. Settle for 250 bar- which is already on the high side- and have fewer shots before a refill.
Guns that do 250 shots can get a little boring if you are just target shooting. A 300 bar gun that is regulated is also extremely inefficient overall as a lot of energy is lost. I find that some regulated guns are a touch erratic until the pressure has dropped below 200, or for the first few shots while temperatures equalise. When I started, there was a local club standard that a PCP should not be filled above 190 bar.

The standard spec is definitely 250 bar. Maybe the air tube states that 300 bar is a maximum?- - that is not the working pressure.
On a test, 250 bar gave 42 shots in 0.177 at 4.8 foot lbs.
If this gun is the same size as my similar PP700SA, that is a poor result. I get 58 shots from a 210 bar fill at 5.2 ft lbs. Achieved by adjusting the settings allowed for and provided by the manufacturer.

Well the Huben drop block gaugev, hits the red line at 30 mpa which is approx 300 bar

Thanks for all the replies guys.I think perhaps the bottle is running low. Here is pics of the huma drop block and the pressure output
from the bottle.Im presuming I need to refill tank to get to 250 bar.

Yes, the bottle is at 200 bar'ish and as I Loutsplained above you can't fill to initial bottle pressure.

It's a good plan to have a blanking plug for the bottle so you can check the current bottle pressure.

Ok so this is the Hills compressor.looks more than adequate.Im presuming this will fill my scuba tank to 300 bar & my guns to 250 bar?
I also love the fact, thats its built in uk!

It's not recommended for bottles over 7L by Hill. Yes it will fill to 300 bar. the latest will go to 310 bar I think hence the name :)

Hill Pumps have awesome customer service. Here's mine.
