Anschutz brass regulator for 9015HP test.

My original steel regulator went a tad wonky. Seems that it had unwound the adjuster cap off quite a way...and pressure/fps was not good.
I tightened the adjuster to a similar measurement as per an online assembly video and that was fine.
Velocity was back where it should be but couldn't actually increase it anymore (we have no restrictions here in NZ...and yes...I know that speed can kill accuracy). But I did want to wind some domed pellets up to 900+ fps to see how they performed. That never happened.
So I emailed Anschutz who said "That's no good. We will send you a new regulator", and they did. It's the latest brass model.
It arrived a few days ago and was promptly bunged into the 9015HP.
Test today and I'm quite happy. The rifle is very stable now. At 25 yards it shoots QYS Olympic (wadcutter), JSB Match (wadcutter, yellow tin), and H&N FTT pellets all into almost the same POI. Would at most be a 1 click job on the scope turret to make them all fit together.
Chrono showed ~775fps for both the wadcutters, and ~750fps for the FTT. Yes, 3 different pellets and just a 10ring sized hole with no adjustment needed. That's fairly stable I reckon.
I didn't play with anything. Left the hammer spring adjuster where it was.
Fired shot after shot at the usual BR 25 yard target card, and the reg kept up with the pace (I hear that some are quite slow pressuring up between shots and that some folks had a few troubles with the brass reg. But maybe that was the older model one?).
I have just rebuilt the steel reg with new Belleville washers (which arrived from UK 2 days after the new brass regulator had arrived).
So one day I will bung that back in just to see how it goes too. For now, the brass jobbie seems fine...and thanks to Anschutz for the support.

Interesting read this, are the steel regs still available or have they stopped production? I can only think Anschutz consider moving from steel to brass provides an improvement of some sort.

Cheers Phill. Why would you need to adjust a reg! I don't think I've ever had to before. Is this something specific to Anschutz?

I only ask because I'm picking mine up this weekend and I'm digging around for as much info as possible.

Is that all the new brass one then? Are the stainless parts integral?

Forgive my ignorance mate, I've never really bothered with internals before.

Just to make it interesting, there are 2 brass versions the one Phil gave in to those dark thoughts on STB is the 'new' version, the older brass version worked like the steel ones, in as much as you can adjust on the gun.
Anschutz now also appear to just have the 1 'new' style for 6 & 12lb i.e. they all have the additional volume

I've noticed that there are several after market regs available too, both Lane and Huma for a start. Have you any experience of those?

I havent I'm afraid, I didn't know Huma did a solution until last week and also didn't know Phil had already been down that rabbit hole

My version uses the brilliant steyr reg .
I love them .
Utilises all the volume vacated by the oe reg as plenum

Ive been keeping it to myself . A couple of lads up north figured it out and i did some for them .
i replace the cyl end cap to fit the steyr reg and fit a valve so the cyl can be removed without de gas .

I was told a whole ago that when buying an Anschutz, I'd have to spend money on getting it right, I'm ready for that....

I'm pretty sure I've seen some of Rob's vids already so I'll check out the Steyr reg ones.

Well that sounds like a serious advantage to me.

As I generally like to do, I will do a full review on the gun over the next week or so. Should be interesting considering I'm a complete, Anschutz novice.

when you think about Steve Wilkins is not known for messing about .

Who knew the factory did a brass version of the steel version before they did the other brass version which is unlike any other version so far .

not a lot of dry metal to metal contact going on .

Best that can come of it is it don't go all green and furry
