Kitty litter in case the poop hits the fan then i have something to soak it up with.

Indoors shooter so not worried about things getting wet or leaving a sack of rice/kitty litter out in the rain on the bench.

I was considering trying a couple of tins of rice pudding! Thought it might mould to the shape of the stock better. 😁

Kitty litter
I use the Aldi kitty litter in my bags. It's better than the rice because it's inorganic and nothing wants to eat it.
However, I think the plastic beads would be better in one way. The kitty litter does generate a bit of dust that sometimes comes out of the canvas BSA rests but it's not too bad. Not bad enough for me to want to spend a good £12 more on beads, though.

I use the basic Tesco kitty litter and yes it's dusty getting the bag filled, if i put a plastic bag in the rest-bag first it would then become weather proof and not dusty if dropped or slapped, although i can't say it's covering things in dust or an issue so far.

Would rather use inert kitty litter which is clay based as it can easily be binned and replaced.
Rice is a waste of food i am too poor for that, that's a lot of curries worth to fill a bag (y)

It is when the bags are tossed about that sometimes there is a little pooft of dust comes out, otherwise there's nothing. I'm not sure how many bags of rice I'd need but I paid a couple of quid-ish for a bag of litter and probably 90% of it is still left to use.

Little side track.
Are the plastic beads lighter than cat litter? Asking as use cat litter at the moment and a bag is quite hefty, but super stable.

I realised that after the event, doh!😩

I've just weighed my 10L bag of litter that has has one BSA bag fill out and I'd say it was 12lb in weight when full, so 1.2 lb a litre
Rice is apparently 1.24 kg a litre or a little more. So, rice is at least as heavy, possibly heavier but it seems like there little in it.
