A bit of History about Yunker & Cybergun co2 bb 'AK47' air rifles

Looks excellent John. I invested in a Double Bell too but am still looking for an inert round for display.
It's actually a very nicely made piece of kit, and surprisingly good value when you consider it includes a green gas grenade. I'm not really a fan of artificial patina, but it just didn't look right in a perfect black anodised finish.

I've been on the lookout for inert VOG grenades for ages, but they are very thin on the ground, and expensive when you find them. Still, we only seem to regret the things we didn't aquire for our collections, never the things we did - or that's what I tell myself anyway 😂

Fantastic setup, John! (y)

For want of anything better I recently bought yet another Russian sight - this time it's a VOMZ Pilad P1x42 (ВОМЗ Пилад P1x42)
collimator sight.

I think mine is the "red dot only" version.

When I bought the sight, I thought it had been used solely on hunting and sporting rifles, until I chanced upon these:

These men are Russian naval spetsnaz operators from the Black Sea Fleet's 388th Naval Reconnaissance Point (388-й морской разведывательный пункт).

The photos are not in high definition, but the sight does look like a Pilad P1x42 red dot sight.

I find it surprising that naval spetsnaz operators might have used "non military grade" sights on land and at sea - maybe the Pilad was being tested by the Russian Navy at the time? To the best of my knowledge, the Pilad P1x42 sight was introduced in the early 2010s and those naval spetsnaz photos could also fit that time frame, so who knows?

What is "for sure" is that the Pilad P1x42 sight was never issued on a large scale to the Russian Army - if it was ever issued to the Russian Armed Forces at all: apart from the two photos above, I was unable to find any conclusive evidence of its use on a military AK.

I have to add that this is probably the most common Russian red dot sight on this side of the Channel.

A Russian reviewer stated this: "it is used in some security agencies, but, probably, for those who are poorer - the main advantage of this collimator is that it is quite cheap." (используется в некоторых силовых структурах но наверное у тех кто победнее преимущество основное данного коллиматора в том то он довольно дешево.) Russians are quite fond of Eotech and Aimpoint sights, which, for sure  , will come at a cost.

That's a very nice addition to your collection. I missed one that was advertised on Ebay but I'm still hoping for a result some day.

I did stumble across a new Zenitco Laser and rail recently. There's so many airsoft replicas about, but fortunately this is the real thing.

I've just had a look and Rusmilitary have a Pilad in stock. Maybe next month when my wallet has recovered a bit 😂

Not exactly the same model - this one is the 1x20 sight, not the 1x42 one.

Rusmilitary tends to overstate the performance of the sight: Pilad is one of best Russian-made combat collimator "red dot" sights

That it is a "combat" collimator sight remains to be proved. So far, we have only two photos evidencing its use by military personnel.

I'm so jealous that you have a real PBS-1 to screw onto your real sword (bit of a play on words there 😂). Even if I could ever find one on this side of the chanel, it would be welded up solid, (because an un-deactivated silencer is so dangerous you know!).

I keep thinking about getting an airsoft one, but always end up giving it a miss.

This PBS-1 is "restricted" in France, that is, it is legally a firearm accessory that cannot be freely acquired by, say, an airsofter who does not hold a shooting licence. That said, according to French gun laws, a suppressor falls into the same category as the weapon to which it is attached - the RS Type 56-1 is not a firearm and not even a weapon, so the suppressor shouldn't be restricted any longer once it is mounted on the RS AEG. But that is in theory, only, unfortunately.

Airsoft PBS-1 "silencers" are pretty close to the real thing, in my opinion - I don't think you can tell them apart at first sight. I had toyed with the idea of getting a fake PBS-1, that is until I found that one. Having genuine accessories on replicas, especially RealSword AEGs, gets them to the next level: one step closer to the real thing, which is what you and I are aiming for, I daresay.

You're abolutely right. I'm not generally an 'accessoriser', but I have collected a lot of QBZ95 accessories for my Real Sword T97. A few more bit since the last pic, especially the QMZ 265 laser/torch, a genuine QBZ toolkit, cleaning mat and a 'Starry Sky' QBZ95 drop case. All genuine except for the bayonet, which is a replica). They certainly make the package feel very real.

Such a pity there are no dedicated museums for those! They'd be great artifacts to behold if you got them all into a single place 👍 Then, I suppose you have your own private museum 😎

An extremely glamorous Russian take on the Yunker-2 BB gun:

What had caught my attention in that video was the fact that the 2004-dated Yunker-2 had an Umarex marking with the tell-tale German F im Fünfeck (F in a pentagon):

Why would a Russian Yunker-2 have German markings? I have no idea and neither does the Russian reviewer of the gun

I watched this & many other YT videos before I purchased my Y-3, looks like a right character😁

To be honest I think he’s more baffled to why it has Yunker & Umarex as he says “Yunker Umarex, I just don’t know?” then laughs & calls it a Bulldog mix with it having three different manufacturers, Baikal Izhmash & Umarex😆

I’m guessing the F logo is stamped due it it being an import/export same reason as to why the Umarex stamp mark is present?

Stick it on translate & you’ll understand 👍🏻

I have a smattering of Russian, so I don't feel the urge to use an online translator.
