Definitely not when it's been quoted by one of our project managers
Takes longer than that for us to drive to the wholesalers to buy all the parts he forgot to include!

Depends on who's doing the defining of 5 minutes - if it's SWMBO you can forget the sneaky little session you were going to have in the morning ... today's was a broken clip on a downpipe (caused by her in the first place hanging onto it when she was pissed), shortly followed by the immortal words, "You might like to clean the gutters out while you're at it".

My DIY rule is take original estimate, double it then move to the next integral unit of time.

5 minute job = 10 hours.
2 hour job = 4 days
5 day job = 10 weeks

I needed two or three tool holders for the AXA wedge type lathe tool holder. The time it took to make just one of those you wouldn’t believe (or maybe you would) and then I found I could get them from Aliexpress for just over £5

Was asked by wife while i cleaned the inside of my car could i do hers as well. This prompted the daughter to chime in do mine as well. The motto of this story once bitten twice shy so now i only clean mine on week days when they are out at work.

I always use the excuse "When I get a round Tooit". If questioned, I clarify saying I have seen square ones in the shops but they are all out of round ones ! Not sure she has actually worked it out yet

There is no such thing as a 5 minute job!
It takes 4 hours to find the stuff she has moved that i need for the job! meanwhile she is adamant she has not moved it.
Then when i find it and she has indeed moved it she just says you should move all your crap then!
Best way is to just say i will do it when i get time and then never get the time
