Do you have preferred pellet brands?

H&N FTT.22 Dunno why used them forever in loads of guns feel confident with them. And qys in any .177 guns. Both never seem to have damages when they turn up. Just me they're my go to pellets never really do pellet testing tho.

I have come to the realisation that many variables dictate the pellet choice, and in some cases fine tuning can influence that, but at the end of the day if something works significantly better, then that’s what you use.

I also struggle with the concept of not liking a pellet because it’s expensive. Look how many hundreds - if not thousands - of pounds you spent just to be able to pull that trigger, the gun, the bipod, the case, the mounts, the scope, the range bag, the cylinder, the bling bits you fitted to make it yours, that’s not the point where you start to get upset because a single pellet is 1p more per shot than another if it will do the job noticeably better. Thats just dumb.
Yes, but when it come to silly prices like for slugs which don't even go well though our £100-150 old springers I do draw the line. + When a tin of pellets cost a quarter of your weekly income for those of us scraping by on less than a ton a week live on. When I had a decent income on the 80's I was one of the first around here to lash out on good German pellets that were twice the price of wasps etc & they more than payed for themselves in clean kills for the table too.

Since the price came up... I have had very good results with Norma Golden Throphy FT in my S400. Over here, you get 2 tins of those for the price of one tin JSBs. While I would not use them for BR competitons, give the price those are plenty accurate for general purpose. Downside is, that they run even slower then H&N in most of my guns. So if you are bound to a legal power limit, you loose some (sometimes alot) FPS compared to JSBs and I think that this is one major upside to using JSBs. They (AirArms are quite similar) just tend to produce the most power (at least out of all my PCPs). Ofc this is only of value if the gun shoots straight with those, but personally I get the best out of most of my guns using JSB Express, Shorts or Heavys (which I generally don´t use to much since we have 5.5 ft lb legal limit).
Lately I also shot QYS Streamlined to good success.

As you already know, slugs are largely pointless in a PCP, much less a springer, so you wouldn’t be wasting the money on them surely? Also 1/4 of 100 is £25, top end for .177 is around £15/tin (JSB RS/Exact), mid range £10 ish (RWS, B8’s, Crossman ) and budget (Econ II) under £5, all can be had for less in bulk, but that’s a different proposition. If you shoot a tin of pellets a year, then that costs you under 29p/week, or £1.25/month or in total, £15 is 0.0125% of your annual disposable income. Shaving £5 or even £10 off that is still going to be a rounding error. Admittedly, it might feel a little harsher the week you spend it as it’s 15% of your weekly disposable income, but spare a thought for those of us who’s disposable income is £86.45 in carers allowance, so I’ve already lost a tin of decent pellets every week vs your situation :ROFLMAO:

That's exactly what I have to live on too mate. I did say less than a ton.....

My Kral Nish loves BSA Storm pellets as does the Puncher K. The Effecto PX5 doesn’t give a crap what you put down it.

I have a few .177 h&n hollow point slugs I was given to try out funnily. & Most of a tin of .177 rabbit magnums that came with a gun I was given they are so heavy at .16 gn you might as well throw them at the target...lol.

They must have improved since they first came out, the .177 ones were dire I tried then. But the interceptors went very well though my merlyn to my surprise so bought a few tins at £3.50 a tin .

Which are you on about the Kral or the Effecto?
