Do you have preferred pellet brands?

So let's start by saying whatever works best for your guns obviously.

But do you find yourself strangely happy when a new gun likes pellets you yourself like?

Sounds silly really. My Alpha liked JSBs, as did my ghost, and I always had a little slump when I handled a tin. I've just taken a dislike to them . I was made up when my Steyr liked H&N and QYS. Just much nicer for some reason.

I'm lucky in which most of my guns like them, & when I say like them I mean at all ranges not just 30yds.
I used to think QYS were better until I tried them past 30yds and then they opened up quite a bit.
Bisley LRG are another winner if all else fails.

Baracuda ft's haven't found a gun that doesn't like them

If we are doing specifics Id say baracuda 8s. Always seem to be at least good to 35m, love the price, and a screw top lid

I have found over the years that most of the pellets from the main manufactures work well in my mixture of guns.

However, for 10m ISSF pistol shooting I stick with RWS R10 7.0grn pellets, and for plinking I’ve got a decent stash of H&N pellets.

RWS Hobby’s have always been a great favourite of mine for general plinking both with rifles and pistols, and RWS Superdomes have also worked well in both springer and PCP rifles.

H+N in general are more consistent than jsb's which are very much batch dependant

Always liked and got good results from JSB's and Air Arms Diablo's . Currently use them through my Huntsman Classic , HW98 , TX200HC and my sons Lyra K and HW30 . All in .22 apart from the HW30 which is .177

I usually try major brands first JSB, Bisley Mags, RWS Superfields.

It annoys me that my Super 10 likes JSB due to poor QC, but as it's a hunter I don't use that many, so live with it.

I personally have little interest in the label on the tin beyond calibre and weight. Whichever two weights of pellets shoot the best groups in a light and a heavy pellet in the particular rifle I plan to take out.

Barra 8’s and QYS streamlined I don’t own a gun that doesn’t like them. I recently bought a pro target that came with 3 tins of JSB exacts. I have to say they were utter crap, I have never seen so many damaged skirts, and the fit was so inconsistent.

Switched to H&N bara 8s and FTs where possible. Definitely notice the consistency. Never had gun like the Match and FTT.

Unfortunately my two FXs only like JSBs but I've recently found Shorts gives no flyers and ain't so "batchy".

Two new tins of sovereigns are good but you get that jsb 6th shot flyer. I'll keep them for my mito which will eat any pellet at 20m and allows me to get to 30m.

Never used/tried AAs until 2025. 3 Tins all terrible.

Want to use heavies again but every tin is different. I need to find the batch but don't want to spend £15+ on the jsb lottery. The ammo box is already full of 2020/1/2/3s jsbs.

In my 98 and TX it's B8s and FTT but they also like JSBs.

The Cometa doesn't like H+N much but shoots Superdomes ok and really likes JSBs.

I just love the look of Superdomes, must have a thing about ribs.
