What is it about replica pistols that really suck!

I've not shot the Webley but I did used to have a blowback Luger.
The Luger was great fun while it lasted - after about 18 months and about 2000 rounds it decided to go fully auto! I thought I had managed to fix it but the fix only lasted a short time. It was great fun to shoot while it lasted and the toggle action is unique.
Of course you have talk with a dodgy German accent while using it!

Cheers
Don
I Have a blowback version too ... as you say quite unique toggle action but very fragile pistol

it had very little use and after storing it a while i came to use it Pelgun oil on bulb ect etc

and it started leaking Co2 from the bulb seal (apparently a common fault on these)

Yes, me too, it's the historical interest that draws me to these replica's. I buy to admire and collect. I dont have anywhere to fire mine , I cannot simply walk to the woods and shoot tin cans like we could in the 70's. I'm in the process of making a wall display in the spare room for some of my WW2 specimens.

Oh that C96. Don't think you can get them any more. If only!! And I'd just love a go with that mp40 too.

I've kind of gone off the idea of the luger now, so many posts saying much the same as yourself. Too much to go wrong, and not interested in the non blowback version. Thanks for the feedback 👍

Thanks Gunman. Good to know. Definitely heading towards the Webley now.

My thoughts on replicates are they are boys toys and are bought for appearances only. For the same cash a decent pellet pistol can be had. An Original model 6 maybe. You can't trade looks for functionality.

May as well go to the Springer Lounge & tell them they're mugs for not buying a PCP for functionality 😂
Sometimes fun has a part to play.

You couldn't be more wrong, they're intended as substitutes for the real thing, which we can no longer have.

The only difference between a boy and a man is the price of its toys.

Let's be honest, airpistols are "toys" in the sense that they do not really have a function other than having fun with for most people. There's nothing wrong with that.

Note: airgun pistols are not comparable to the real deal. I own and regularly shoot the real iron. The .22lr gun I have is made for the sports though, for fun. The SIG OTOH might be made for other purposes, I still use it... for the fun of shooting it - to me, it functions as a toy. One of the other members of my club owns a .44 magnum revolver. Absolutely not usable for any sports. It is... a toy. For fun!

I'm a fan of the C.96 too. Very gas hungry but a lot of fun.

Doesn't that depend on what you want it for John? I love history, I had a deactivated lee Enfield on my wall, and a G98. It's the historical element that gives me the pleasure. I have no intention of competing with super accurate target pistols. I just want to sit in my back garden, shooting g tin cans. Horses for courses as they say.

I wish I had somewhere to shoot mine to try them out. I live in flats and dont have a garden. Many of my replicas were bought cheaply because they may have a leaky seal. etc. I'm not bothered, they are as close to the real thing as I can go. I actually own the real thing, handed my section 5's in and kept some on section 58. a Remington used in the Civil War, an early Nagant ,a S&W 1897 Target pistol and some more but I prefer the actual firearms that were used in the wars even though they are only replicas. The history of the iconic pistols like the Luger, 1911's etc fascinate me, there workings, design and use.

You got me there. I was thinking of the more modern replicas rather than historical versions or deactivated models.

In this country we can't have the real deal. CO2 replicas are the nearest substitute.

Brought this a while ago . Went non blow back as I wanted more shoots not realising that trigger finger would give out before the Co2 .
Very accurate for a BB put my Walther CP88 to shame which was a surprise.

I know, but the point is: we buy guns (either airgun, airsoft, replica's or the real thing) as "toys for boys". No need to "look down" on these choices and dismissing choosing replica's the way John seems to. To each their own and bla bla, but in the end we're all here because we like playing with these "toys" 😉. We digress, ELMO.

Not looking down just a little confused why someone would buy a replica based on modern guns. I do appreciate the historical aspect of the older replica guns
