• the Daily hi thread just say hi :)
  • All contentious threads including politics, religion, crime, immigration, laws, elections etc are banned & will be removed. There is still a Gun Related Politics section for relevant topics.

For those living in Scotland.

Am I still allowed to say 'Twat' ? ;-)
Only if it is spelt Twatt!
As this is social media; to all the thought controlling members of the Scottish Parliament( you know who you are) that voted for this legislation, you can feck right off, you're poor excuses for human beings, lower than pond scum & your fathers smell of Elderberries ! Come & get me.😊
That's you blacklisted (can I say that?) for visitng Scotland.

Silly question because I can’t be arsed to read the legislation
Does the rule only apply to people living in Scotland saying/posting nasty things?
What if a Greek says/ posts something nasty about a Scot?
What if a Scot in Greece posts or says nasty about someone in Scotland?
JK Rowling posted loads yesterday and she is not being investigated

Is it because she is wealthy enough to take them on ?

a video about it . Not sure the VPN advice is correct as a VPN is not 100% anonymous and the VPN companies admit it .

She more than likely has more money than the Scottish government--so you could be right enough money to take them on and still pop out for a pint or two

Actually, that's a good point
If a Scottish person posts hurty words whilst he's on Holiday in Benidorm, is he going to be arrested as he steps off the plane on the way home?
The law doesn't apply in the country where the "crime" was committed.
It's like going to Amsterdam and getting baked off your bonce on skunk, as long as you don't bring any back then it's not against the law.

Presumably the law will only apply to future transgressions. If not I would guess nearly everyone in the Country would be guilty of offending at some point in the past!

Well, she can afford lawyers who would show the Hate Crime Bill up for the miserable, ill thought-out, unworkable pile of crap that it is, which would put the Scottish police in the embarrassing position of being obliged to enforce a law proven unenforceable.

Anyway, here's Jonathan Pie's take on it -

How to avoid prosecution in Jockland
Avoid upsetting someone, rather than use phrases similar but not limited to “he is not a woman” or “she is not a man” use the phrase “they are not XX they are XY” or vice versa.
Can’t be challenged it’s a simple statement of fact and will cover 99% of eventualities
Ta Da
Problem solved
Now to solve the Middle East crisis and Russia/Ukraine

If it is ‘published’ in Scotland, then it happened in Scotland. Just don’t write it down or be filmed calling that dude a dude!

Aerosmith are now fellons from Scottish Justice…

Whether you like her or hate her, she has some valid points.

We're not going to make it as a society are we,
If this job exists it's already too late.

Well, I agree with Jonathan Pie's take on it. Hating minorities is wrong (unless we are talking paedos, rapists or murderers obviously). Hate speech is the reason why people were happy for the Jews to be murdered.

Saying that, this new law is stupid.

Hate speech is the reason why people were happy for the Jews to be murdered.
That's a bit of a sweeping statement isn't it? Apart from those directly involved in the eradication of Jews in the last war, I don't think the majority of ordinary hard working folk were influenced by so-called hate speech.
