Hello, any advice please, just bought a second hand Yukon Photon xt with doubler and crystal clear, scope alone, but put the doubler on and its totally blured.....Seems like its just short of adjustment to clean up the picture.
Using during the day, I printed off a 3" sun screen tube with honeycomb mesh sunscreen which cuts out the light great on the normal scope....its just this doubler. When I fit this, I have to wind up the focus to the full, but it just isn't enough.
I got over the lack of adjustment with the crosshairs with adjustable mounts from Amazon... just filed off the grooves and with levelling wedges can centre the crosshairs,no problem... even made myself a 3v adapter so I can run the scope of a power pack strapped to the off side of my rifle butt, so batteries not an issue. Just don't know how to get over the blured image issue. So interested how other users have got over this issue.... cheers

Replaced my goyojo MS-32 after smashing the usb socket, whilst charging, so it'll only work on batteries about 45mins tops, so no good for a night session. I put my Goyojo GS515 onto the PP750 which seems a really balanced set up and giving crystal clear images in full dark, (also with a power pack on the butt and magnetic usb cable( after knackering the recharge socket on the MS-32))

Bought one of the first ones when they came out
Bought a doubler for it and never got on with it, gave up in the end, works fine without it 👍

Many of the doublers, and probably nearly all of the cheap ones, are not he correct focal length for use like this. You could try unscrewing it a little to see if that improves the focus but chances are it needs to be closer to the lens front. Anyway it's worth a try and if it works you could add an adapter ring to make a proper fix. I have used a Sony doubler which works very well but was expensive.
You will likely find that adding a doubler will affect your PoI.

Interested as to what type of doubler you have/are referring to? Have a doubler on mine & image is crystal clear with no issues but it is a screw in type, was a bit of a pig to fit initially & is definitely not the sort of thing that you just swap on/off?

Yeh its a Yukon NVRS 2.5NVRS 2.5x50 doubler with screw in connection

Most of the doublers are going to be threaded to fit on the front of fixed prime lenses rather than a SLR with interchangeable lenses where doublers would be fitted between the camera body and the lens. As with most things the Chinese started making them at bargain prices and they used to be very common on Ebay. The optical quality can vary considerably but when used on a Photon or similar that is not too much of an issue but the focal length has to be within the focussing range of the scope you're fitting it to. Many scopes do have a threaded front lens so will take these doublers or a selection of photographic filters if you should have a need for special effects such as a neutral density filter foe use on a Photon in daylight.
The cheap lenses are likely to be of poor optical quality or uncertain quality and may slightly affect the path of light which will affect the PoI. Of course this is not certain and some will be better than others. It should be possible to fit and remove them without too much trouble but the fine threads are fairly easy to damage.
