Your top five air rifles you’ve owned?

I've only ever had 9 air rifles since I was 16 years old (50 years ago), but the best of those is as follows:
#1 Edgun Leshiy
#2 HW30
#3 AA s200
#4 Sharp Innova
#5 Feinwerkbau 124

Ive had dozens of rifles over the years and the ones that stand out to me now as being the best Ive owned would be.

Mk1 Rapid
Webley Longbow by Popey
Kalibrgun cricket
MFR rapid
AA s510

Plenty just missed my list and then theres many that would make the worst list, but each of the above just stood out at the time as fantastic airguns

Chris

ASI Magnum (1st big boy air rifle in the 80s that got all this started)
Mk 1 Venom TX
Daystate Harrier (1st PCP)
NJR
AR4 silhouette.

Worst...... A beautiful CR97se that went back 4 times and still couldn't group more than 5 shots.

1. My first Gat pistol when I was around 10 as I got so much pleasure from that gun .I’ve loads of fond memories of playing in the woods with my mates and that Gat . Great days.

2 . My first Webley mk3 . I learnt so much about what to do and what not to do with that rifle . I m amazed it survived my tuning attempts and the ox spring I crammed in there.Wish I still had it .

3. HW80 . What a revelation that first 80 was . It was a mk2 bought brand new and when I got it chrono’d at the county house as I thought it was a little underpowered I was informed it was coasting along at 16 ft lbs and promptly chopped some coils off . Sold it for car repair money .

4. A Webley MK3 precursor to the Supertarget in .177 with a PH16 sight . A beautiful rifle and absolutely immaculate . I could kick myself for selling it .

5. My MK3 Supertarget . This was the rifle of my dreams as a kid . I’m so glad to finally have one . It’s been reblued and does around 8.5 ft lbs with a nice smooth shot cycle . Arguably one of the most elegant air rifles ever made in my eyes . This one’s going nowhere .

I bought a HW100 circa 2010,with a lighter cylinder it was bearable, but it was incredibly accurate and consistent, my brother bought one same day, it wasn't as good, mine must have had a perfect barrel. Nothing since has been as consistent.

1 Mk1 Rapid 7 .22 Kevg fettled does what it says on the tin👍
2 Another Mk1 Rapid 7 .22 this one in a Sheffield Custom Stock again Kevg fettled 👍
3 Hw100T .177 a brilliant rifle
4 Hw97k .177 TBT kit fitted shoots spot on
5 .22 Sharp Innova

As my past always pushes me towards tactical rifles, I tend to only purchase non-wood guns, have had quite a few over the years though.
1. Fx maverick
2. Fx wildcat 1 &2
3. Hw100
4. Logun s16 ( about the same weight as a small family car) my first ever pcp
5. Bsa cadet ( my first ever airgun, still have it and is still being used by my son. (He is 26 years old and the gun has been owned by me for 45 years) been handed down to him for grounding history

I’m not 100% on the order but the 77 definitely takes top spot. Included some pictures too in no particular order (not all are current setups).

1) mk1 full length .177 HW77 (mk2 front assembly for the dovetails to fit a globe sight) - got this in January, A birthday present to myself and an introduction to shooting diopter. I adore this gun, despite it being a RH stock and I’m a lefty, it makes me grin every time I shoot it.

2) TX200HC walnut .177 - a recent purchase but it’s just gorgeous and a lefty stock that just feels so lovely after shooting ambi and RH so much.

3) FWB 127/124 I have both and it’s difficult to split them so I won’t. The initial purchase of the 127 changed the future of my collection, I got the 124 shortly after. I’m now awaiting the arrival of a FWB 150 to expand my FWB collection.

4) HW95/98 I’ve merged these also - currently in .20k format with a luxus stock and the 98 .177 with a CS500 lefty stock (neither of which I have photos of) but I have a .177k barrel, a .177 500ml barrel and the 98 stock so I swap these around when the occasion suits me and I feel like tinkering.

5) A surprise entry and my only pcp, the 410tdr .22, topped with a pard008 - I call it the Lego gun. Stock is shabby, it’s an older unregged field gun but it makes me feel like a sniper 😂.

For me
1. fx wildcat mk1 .177
2. HW100. 177
3. AA Pro sport .177
4. AA ultimate sporter. 177
5. Still looking?
Good post didn't take much thinking about my top two wildcat and hw100 so close both super accurate and never let me down the fx came out on top just because of it's lighter weight and its point ability around the farm buildings
Everyone should have a Springer in their top 5 and the pro sport gave me so much fun & l think a Springer sets you up as a better hunter makes you work that bit harder AA ultimate sporter sweet rifle pity the shot count wasn't bigger
And even though I've had countless others couldn't really put one in 5th place
Actually looking for something now maybe it would make the top 5 ]Drake267[had a HW100 very similar looking to yours mine was sporting a cs700 thumbhole skeleton stock same scope on top lol but also had a A&M cylinder fitted a sweet sweet bit of kit

Sheridan Blue Streak/20
This one brings back many fond memories from my youth. It was the rifle that introduced me to the 20cal and what a recoiless can do. I have taken many rabbits and some at over 50m with these showing me the way as to what the calibre is capable of. I just love the 'thrump' of the delivery but I equally loathe the multiple pumping. For all the right reasons, I have kept my original one for over 35 years but admit there are easier ways to take a shot.

Ultra SE/177
I had to include one of these as it has earned its place. These are my workhorses and I can afford to get rough and dirty with them. I can also afford having multiple of these secondhand to provide for the 3 children in JSR format. Unpretentious and not exceptional in any one area but it does everything well enough. Cheap enough, accurate enough, compact enough, enough shot count, reliable enough, sourceable spares, plentiful secondhand on the market. Its like a pair of socks that you don't get passionate about but you prefer to wear them.

HWW97STLK/20
This is the first springer I can shoot really well and really easily. A very heavy lump indeed designed to be a serious workhorse and you sense it is dependable for tens of thousands of shots. It has a sort of no-nonsense workmanlike character to it and is laser accurate with great delivery manners. If I need a true survival gun independent of air tanks for putting food on the table, this will be the one. I far prefer the 97 over the 77. The front muzzle weight just changes the dynamics and for my better.

HW30K/177
So So easy to shoot and shoot well. There are plinkers for tin cans but these can plink a fly in mid flight (as they slow to a hover). Exceptional accuracy in such a light compact package. Easy nature and effortless to shoot from being so easy to cock, to shoot, to bring to aim and to hit the bullseye with. If these have more poke, I'd rather lug one of these around over the 'survival' HW97 (but then, it may change the whole easy going nature). Everyone should have one from young to old. Even youngsters deserves to hit exactly where they aim, and not just settle for hitting in the direction of aim.

Leshiy 2
Well, what can I say. It ticks every box on my wish list. I may have a streak of 'Huckleberry' in me from watching too many Police Academy movies in my teens. The auto-cyling may be a gimmick for some but you'll change your mind when you can do things others cannot. They are well put together and offers a new dimension to tuning of mixing the permutations. I am loving the flexibility of multiple calibres as I shoot 177, 20, 22 and the thumping 25. Rather than rattling away on a BB gun and watch them fly in approximation, these are full powered shooting with precision. Once you've mastered double tapping, a singular shot is like a cave man with just one spear.

I can carry on but these are my other highly rated guns that deserves a little mention. HW110STK/20, HW80K/25, Falcon FN8/177

I've had about 20 x different rifles pass through to end up where my collection is today, and if I had to pick the top 5 with reasons for choosing them, they would be (in no particular order of preference)...

1 - Steyr Challenge HFT Hunting
I bought this one because I wanted something 'top shelf' in the rack and it is superb. The quality of the machining and finish, the trigger, smoothness of operation are all outstanding and it is just a joy to own and operate. It is a little pellet fussy and needs a higher level of maintenance than my other guns (especially cleaning the barrel, a well known Steyr quirk I understand) but it's worth it.

2 - Air Arms S400
I wanted an S400 for years and when I got back into shooting this time around, circumstances and funding permitted it so I finally bought one and this is going nowhere. If I had to sell all my guns, the S400 would be the last out the door. It is accurate, solid and reliable - an all round performer and is my go-to rifle.

3 - Edgun Leshiy
For the longest time, I really didn't care for these and thought they were a bit ugly and pointless... until I tried one and I realised the cult-like following these guns have is justified. They grew on me over time and I took a gamble on trying one and I am glad I did. It is build like a tank, feeling solid and heavy duty but also very light and pointable. Seriously compact and easy to transport, accurate enough for target and plinking and a superb hunter/pest control rifle, totally adaptable to whatever calibre or barrel length you want with a raft of accessories to customise it and make it your own.

4 - Air Arms TX200
I picked this .177 TX200 up in a deal, part ex'd for my HFT500 a few months ago. The previous owner did a number on it, with the Tony Leach 22mm kit fitted and a fettled Rowan trigger. It is incredibly consistent, effortless to cock, low recoil, quiet and more consistent over the chrono that any of my PCPs (approx. 5 fps spread over 10 shots). It's currently in a CS700 schanbel stock, but I have a CS1000 target stock currently being made for it.

5 - Steyr EVO 10
I know, it's not a rifle but I had to cheat and sneak this one in! I really enjoy 10m target shooting and far prefer pistol to rifle, so after a stint with beginner and intermediate pistols I invested in a Steyr EVO 10 and later added a Rink laminate grip. It is a superb bit of kit and oozes quality (as you'd expect for a £1700 pistol!) and is a joy to shoot. Smooth, precise and blisteringly consistent... if only the shooter was as well 🤣
