I have a Wulf fireball 2-7x32 on my 2240B and seems pretty good, but with a second rifle on its way i will need a new scope for the new rifle, so before i splash the cash what is the general opinion on the fireball range, looking at getting a 3-9x40 or 4-12x50, they are budget but not bargain basement

the 2-7 is mounted on the short 2240 so i would get a 3-9 for the longer rifle
 
I think the Wulf 2-7 are great little scopes for the money

But I think I'd advise looking through larger models before you purchase.
I'm saying this as I have a Hawke Airmax 2-7x32ao and a larger 4-12x40ao, and they're quite different to look through and I don't get on with the larger one, even though they have exactly the same optics, ret and build

I've also found the view from cheaper scopes can look a bit "tunnelly" as they go up in size, though to be fair, haven't looked through any of the larger Wulfs
 
Have the above, it was ok to start, tends not to hold zero for long, maybe a one off, cheap as chips so no great loss, only used on PCPS 👍
 
My 2-7×32 fireball is my first scope of this size if the mag is enough for you i would stick with it.
I have 3 other much dearer scopes and im amazed with this scope for the money.
Im using it on a hw30.

Agree with this, they're good for the money but even at 2-7x32 the field of view on the Wulf is significantly narrower than a Hawke Airmax 2-7x32

The 2-7 wulf is quite a bit longer than the airmax, which may be the cause
 
I've got a Wulf Fireball 2-7x32, it broke, I'm too lazy to send it back. The glass is cr@p and the ret is far too thick for me.
I replaced it with a Hawke 2-7x32 Airmax which also broke and I'm not particularly impressed with its replacement.

I also have two Wulf Lightening 7-25x44 and are very very good for the money.
I would certainly buy Wulf again but only their more expensive offerings.

I have 4 of the Wulf 2-7's, 3 of them from when they first came out. Never had a problem with any and they've been on springers and pcp's.

What broke on the Wulf?
 
Guys thanks for the replies so maybe i wont be getting the wulf 3-9 so any other suggestions in similar price band say £50-70 maybe a Nikko Stirling? or even cheap Gun Tuff from JS

Not entirely sure. My zero went haywire and the AO focus stopped working properly and something rattled inside.
I was going to strip it for fun but not done that yet.

The Hawke's ret started slowly rotating anti-clockwise. Replacement was a good process.

What rifle are you getting n what are thinking of using it for? Also what' are you limiting your budget to?

SMK XS19 .22 gas ram, used for a bit of paper target at range up to 25m, plinking and maybe a bit of ratting but probably not as i have the crosman 2240b for rats budget max £70
 
Have a look at Spina Optics. They're part of the Vector Optics group.
I have a Cerato n Spina Optics version of it. The only difference I can find is the overall external "gribbling", otherwise the same. Was cheaper n came with mounts that weren't too bad.

For your uses, I think I'd stick to the 2-7

I shoot for pest control primarily, but plot out to 55 yards at the club. A 2-7 does me just fine on 5x mag in .177 or 6x mag in .22
