I'm on a tight budget at the moment so do a meal planner for the week and then make a shopping list from that; no food waste at all. I also have a grocery comparison app for more expensive items and utilise supermarket apps such as Lidl's and Nectar so then buy items when discounted. I've noticed a lot of the bigger supermarket chains also price match to Aldi and Lidl and the latter two are not always cheapest on branded items. Having said that I do love my Lidl shop, especially their own brand crisps, bacon and cider (Westons relabled) with the bonus of the middle aisles.
