windows 11,

Things move on, and W11 divers are just an extension of that, you would be miffed if your laptop suddenly no longer worked because the new drivers wear not installed, so unless it's giving you issues, I'd just put it to the back of my mind and forget about it as the real "update" to W11 will have to be asked for or accepted and is a noticeable install.

This is not supposed to be dismissive, but in time many other peripherals will simply not work if you don't keep your software up to date - who here is still running Vist/XP/3.1 !!!

Erm, Windows 7 user here, simply because Win11 doesn't work with my printer, digital or video cameras (no drivers available for that version) whereas Win7 does.

Guys thank you for your input. its just me ,, but i have this thing about google /windows/microsoft. i dont want to be a trial monkey for them ,, they should have already sorted out the problems not leave it too the joe public to complain that this and that doesnt work properly. anyways rant over ,i will pretend i didnt see the problem and be a good boy.( always a first time)🙃.

The problem with some of the major updates is that they are not always backward compatible. When I moved from XP to Win7 the Epson printer I had became an expensive doorstop.
I had to keep that XP machine as I have a vinyl cutter and my software I run that on would not work on the Win8.1 that I upgraded Win7 to.
I remember many, many years ago one of my maths students brought in disk that she had saved a piece mathematics coursework on and asked to print it out on the schools printer as hers had developed a fault. At the time all the mathematics computers where ACORN so I directed her to the office and she was given access to the printer/PC in the staff room. Scuppered again as the Windows the school had was an earlier version than she had used to produce the work. I still have that WinXP laptop just running that vinyl software and this Win 8.1 machine will stay 8.1 until it finally dies.
Might outlive me as I am 75 .:D

"XP Server Pro is industrial a special addition. very very expensive"

I must admit that in 25 years dealing with every iteration of MS servers, I've never heard of this; do you have any links?

Neither - XP has always been a consumer/end user OS as far as I'm aware, with Pro just being the edition above Home, nothing server related?

Server 03 was the XP based server OS..

I haven't graduated beyond Windows 7 yet.... o_O
We did and Windows 10 tried to kill our PC via drowning it in treacle speed wise. Did a HDD wipe and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate and NeverTen.exe to keep Windows 10 away, back to plodding functionality which is loads better than it was under Windows 10!

I changed our two laptops and a PC over to Win 11. The laptops were not compliant, but I found a workaround. Have been using Win 11 for over a year now and I find it far more stable and reliable than Win 10. Not had a crash at all as yet.

Win10 will bring any system with a HDD to its knees & make for a crap experience - it really doesn't like spinning discs.

if you move in the circles i do you will know what im on about .
Some of the mikeysoft stuff only says windows on it and a number. no name .
we give some stuff our own names all depending on what we think the op system is based on originally.
I suppose its a bit like building a pure games system. pick a op system. then stripping out all the rubbish and only leaving what you need . then adding what you want .

It wasn't that long ago that Microsoft stated that Windows 10 would be the last installment, which would just keep updating as and when, but the layout would remain pretty much the same, similar to the idea of the office 365.
Windows xp was the best version in my opinion.
I was going to remark on this before I found this post. This will be the Windows your grandchildren will use (sic) was their claim IIRC. More marketing BS, no doubt. Where do I go to switch off Auto Update, please?

A mate used to swear by Ubuntu and used t for years without problems, been meaning to try it as it free of all the windows spyware and stuff that slows it down, but when it comes to it, it's mostly hardware spec that controls how fast a system can run proved that as I have just sold a high spec gaming laptop and going back to a much older i5 laptop I really notice the difference.

Windows 11 is supposed to improve online and other security

To do so it uses a TPM chip, which is why many older machines are not fully 11 compatible...
