A long way away from the mega-fire fortunately,
View attachment 1021827but it's really impressive and sickening what has happened already this summer. Fontainebleau is over but you'd not expected them so far up north up to now. To top that the dry summer is not nearly over.

So much damn idiocy that started up the French ones too. then the wind fans it up so much .

Frightening ones around Bordeaux and Madrid.
The south of Italy is ablaze too.

People really need to be made aware of the dangers when vegetation is so dry: a simple spark from a grinder can start it up, and obviously fag-ends.
Not to mention mentally sick arsonists!
So for extinguishing the one in Scotland.

There is I'm sure arson involved with some of these. Last year it was proved in Rhodes that that caused so much damage. All of the fires anyway are caused by human negligence. You just have to look around the UK and there are broken glass pieces all over, as well as discarded plastic bottles. All are magnifying glasses just waiting for the sun to strike them at the perfect angle.

A few years ago we were on holiday in Portugal and noticed a large area of burned woodland in the area. We asked about it and it seems that it was started deliberately for some obscure but financial reason. Most of the locals knew about it. Personally I think anyone caught for arson should receive a very harsh sentence. The potential for loss of life and the expense to the community in deploying fire fighting resources are huge.

It looks as though the Cairngorms are in for a good soaking today, great news for them. The post-apocalypse pictures we are seeing on the news from Western France are appalling with no respite in sight. Thankfully no reports of loss of life, full marks to the emergency services.
