For a change I’ve bought something different to my usual Islay malt and opted for a Speyside.
This is Tamnavulin red wine cash edition and it has to be said is a very nice drop, it’s not an Islay but I’m not in the least disappointed.
So what’s your poison this Saturday evening ?

Must admit I’ve never heard of Astryd until now . I’ve used google and it’s an ale that I will have to try.
It's very moorish and only 3.8%, so you can have a few and not feel like shite the following morning

Probably some of this:

This is (currently) a Ben Nevis Spirit in an ex Glenglassaugh filled, ex PX Sherry cask that may or may not have had some other whisky in it (twice?) before the Glenglassaugh. We (a group of us from another forum) started this journey is 2011 (Glenglassaugh fill in a 60litre PX refill octave) before bottling that and refilling with the Ben Nevis new make spirit, maturing for just udner 6 years as per the lable.

I'd correct the spelling mistakes (or typos) in my post above if I could be bothered, but I'll leave 'em in I think.

The Glenglassaugh filled PX cask is not one of these bottles (photo below from 2020), as it was a 2018 bottling, so must have been from another trip oop north. Oh in answer to your question - yes, I like my whisky! And yes it's not the full selection, just what I brought back on one trip oop north. The 4 x 50cl bottles at the front - I had multiples of (about 6 of each from memory... hic!)

Haig Club, Grouse, Laphroaig

Used to buy Laphroaig cask stength often then some idiot called Prince Charles declared it his fav tipple, can't get it now let alone afford it, "one should keep one's gob shut".

Hmm not so sure about the Calvados, your venue though . Definitely thought provoking.

Standing on the sand at the water’s edge looking straight at a bunker less than 100 yards away is very thought provoking! The British Monument where they list the dead by date of death through the battle of Normandy sends shivers down the spine
