Hi everyone, I have narrowed a search for a single blade EDC pocket knife down to a SOG and further, to the terminus. Two versions appear to be available and I wondered if anyone had owned one or both and could offer advice on weather the carbon graphite is worth the additional £100+
My initial search was limited to around £60 but even though some lovely knives are available at prices up to £60 I have decided to raise my budget to £200 but I am happy to spend the lower end of my budget if the more expensive isn’t warranted.
Thanks in advance

Have a look here at the differences between the steel used

If that's the knife you want and your budget allows it I'd always go for S35vn over D2.

SOG heat treat is OK and according to Larrin (Knife nerd) edge retention is similar although S35vn slightly better but you probably won't notice too much of a difference.

S35vn is tougher although again on a knife this size D2 would be fine. S35vn is stainless whereas D2 is close but not quite.

I also find D2 much harder to sharpen compared to S35vn.

I bought a Terminus D2 last year, after researching it - found it to be Taiwan manufacture; except it has China written on the blade ()
Its ok as an edc, but edge retention isnt great; i wouldn't buy another
