What was it that got everyone into Air rifles?

As a number have already mentioned about their introduction, it was my Dad who introduced me to airguns.

I was the summer of 1976 in woods near my grandparents house where I got to shoot his Relum Tornado, fitted with one of the very basic BSA 3x scopes, his Webley Mk1 pistol and a break barrel pistol that was only marked 'Freetime', the targets were various tin cans.

I still have the Relum and the Webley, the other pistol broke and sadly is long gone.

My mate's dad had an airsporter that we would blast cans with. I have no idea how we managed to cock it since we were left on our own with it aged about 9 or 10. I remember one time he only had a few pellets left so we shot a toilet roll over and over, recovered the pellets, then fired them again.
Now returned to it, after a long gap, due to squirrels spoiling trees and the bird table in the garden.

A rusty old Vulcan, a crusty old tin of .22 pellets and a pile of .22 darts that were thrown in the bottom of a removals box. Age 12 ish.

Nearly mid life crisis. I was working a job with anti social hours and was looking for something to do in my free time and I stumbled upon the Umerex Boys Club. Started pistol shooting in the back garden and then moved onto rifles. Had a few years off but enjoying again with my son.

Wanting to be in the countryside as a lad. Don't hunt anymore, but shot clays for years. Then had a go at target shooting and find it so relaxing.

I used to tag along with my Dad when he went out rough shooting at around 8/9 years old . His shooting buddy brought along an old BSA standard .177 for me to use and i was hooked from that moment on . Wasn't long before my dad got me a Diana G76 , then I got a Bsa Airsporter when i was about 12 . Great times :D
