Morning all,
Looking at getting another budget pcp currently got a stoeger xm1 .177 but the shot count is disappointing I've tweaked the regulator and changed the transfer port and hammer spring but still only getting 30 meaningful shots at 10 ft lbs also find the 9 shot magazine fiddly to say the least

The Benjamin Akela are pretty good built well and have a big cylinder , not to everyone's taste though, a few come up on here secondhand at decent prices .
Okay I'll have a nose how do see the sales section think I've finally gained access but can't find it

If you are going brand-new and looking for a really good starter then you could do a lot worse than looking at the ATA Airborne. Mark Camoccio did a full review a few years ago - https://www.gunmart.net/gun-reviews/airguns/air-rifles/ata-airbourne - and was impressed with the gun. Good sized mags, whisper quiet, truly fantastic shot count (200+) and really well made. I know a chap who bought one and is still very impressed. From what I remember the only slight drawback is that it's got a slightly basic trigger. For £350 brand-new you could do a lot worse!

You could consider a used Kral Jumbo Hi Cap, they come with 2x 500 bottles that can be swapped ‘in the field’.
Retuning to air rifles after a CO2 one that wasn’t getting used I decided I liked the idea and looks of the HiCap and although it’s long and heavy with a bipod fitted it’s a fantastic accurate gun.

Following this as I'm in a similar boat. Got a hw99 .22 and it's lovely, but fancying a PCP in .177 for something completely different for HFT and for the wife to join every so often.... NPO2 looking like a strong contender to be alright at a bit of everything....

Personally i find the shot count of the Hi-Cap the most disappointing of any air gun.. Yes you get 400 shots (apparently, i bet it's less), but that's from 1000 CC OF AIR..! An entire LITRE of air to still get less shots than many guns fitted with a single 480cc bottle.

I think it's a feat of shoddy engineering to achieve such poor efficiency, and i'd love to know why it's so bad...

The reximex lyra is a great gun for your budget, as is the kral Np-02. Both accurate and well built, I have a .22 Np-02 that has had over 7000 pellets through it and the only problem ive had with it was a leaking link pipe which cost me less that £60 to put right. Ive got other (much more expensive) guns that have been nowhere near as reliable and no more accurate

Then give some consideration to the ATA Airborne. That's a lot of gun for less than £350.

I have to agree with this, one of my mates has one, it's never let him down and the accuracy seems as good as more expensive rifles.
