I have a Benj. Marauder and thinking about having a regulator installed. The cost is about $260. What advantages will a regulator give me.?
Any input will be appreciated.
Thx in advance,
Ernie

Hard to answer without knowing the consistency of your particular rifle and the power you shoot at.
If you are happy with both of those then there's no advantage.

If Benjamin uses their own regulator, a decent aftermarket Huma might increase your shot count and improve the power curve but it won’t change accuracy.

As Mike has mentioned above, have you tested your gun over a chrono?

If not, do so and see what consistency you’re getting. If it’s very little shot to shot you could just be wasting your money. 💰

This thread covers me getting a gun, testing it and then regging it. You should be able to see the advantages from the data provided.

Beware you need to know what you're doing, it's not normally plug and play option.

Disadvantages are:
  • added level of complexity
  • more leak points
  • potentially increased maintenance cost
Is it necessary for your gun and your requirements? (rhetorical question 😁 )

Thx to all for the input. Of the 3 rifles that I have it is the most accurate at 50 yards. It will shoot as good as I do.
My wife has told me for 57 yrs, " If it ain't broke you break it", I think see may be right in this case. See below 5 shots at 50 yards.

Even fitting a regulator it's unlikely you will improve shots like that.
That's some pretty darned good shooting.

Leave as is would be my recommendation looking at groups like that. Im not sure what power level your mrod is set at? Assuming your in the USA and power levels are plus 12fpe , then fitting a reg will likely reduce plenum size and affect consistency?

I added a regulator to my .22 BSA with the goal of having more shots in one fill.

Factory gave 20 shots within 30 fps at 18 fpe from 235 Bar.

With regulator I have 72 shots from 210 Bar at 12 fpe - but I can fill to 250 Bar and perhaps reach 100 shots/fill.

Spread is now sub 20 fps for the whole string.

Downside is more complexity, more points for leaks and the upfront cost of the regulator.
