Wetherspoons

I went into the "spoons" in Stafford Town about a month ago. Pleasant atmosphere and very inexpensive beer .
The Picture House? I've been there before moving on to The Sun Inn and then The Shrewsbury Arms, all great pubs. I've yet to try The Bird In Hand and The Railway.

I used to go to the Weatherspoons in Wellingborough with an old friend. We went once a week.
My friend couldn't walk very far, so one of the attractions was their big car park at the rear of the place.

BUT... one fine day a few years ago they decided to close the car park to their customers. Shrug tt
So we thought, "Sod you, then"... and we went elsewhere.

I haven't been back there since.

Yes it was the Picture House. I spent a pleasant hour whilst I waited for a train to London. It must have been difficult to convert a cinema because of the different floor levels, but on the whole a good job

Only been in our local 'spoons twice, once for a lunch and the second time a mid-afternoon pint after an early finish.
The dining area was full of shoppers a good meal and a pint,
Afternoon clients were alkies and after driving past at 10am, the same goes for just about all who are there before the lunch time menu is served.

Haven't been in the Redwell for 22 years, last went in with a few lads after being made redundant.
|Never liked the place, no music, no pool table just the hardcore drinkers.

Only been in few and found them ok apart from one that had a load of loud mouth football fans in who were causing trouble even with their own side .

Some of the staff wanted to turf them out but their boss allowed them to stay . We left after one drink.

Our local one isn’t pretty decent to be fair, the lady and I occasionally go in for a breakfast or and evening meal. It’s one of those places where you know what you’re getting and you’re not going to have to sell another kidney to afford it.

The big one in Cambridge was a cinema, brilliant when first opened, take your drinks up to the mezzanine and people watch with friends, then slowly went down hill, hadn't been for a good while, then went in as in another post, stuck to the floor beer was awful, haven't been back mitch21

Bridgewater used to be in my sales area early 70s, and I fished in the area,Huntspill, Kingsedgemoor Drain, sorry to hear its demise mitch21

Have a monthly meet up with retired coworkers in wetherspoons in Swansea centre. Food looks value for money but we were only there for the booze 🍺 🍺
Occasionally visit the local wetherspoons in Morriston - usually only one drink, as driving. Again, food looks good value
Never witnessed any trouble of note and compared to other pubs they are certainly the best value

My local was the biggest and voted best in the country at one point. Its right on the beech so you can sit outside on the veranda in the summer. Lots of space, foods not bad and its cheap. Go at least one a week!

I always pop in for some libations when the wife is busy trawling the local shops. Alternatively, it's a good place to tank up and scarf a quite acceptable pizza before heading to the cinema upstairs for an evening show.

I miss the 3 for £10 small plates though! They're now 3 for £15.33 which is barely worth it. Chicken wings, prawns and some chips with bacon and sour cream. Mmm!

Yes, the place is stickier than a maple syrup factory but I can't argue with the convenience and £2.62 for a Greene King IPA. Cheapest pint in Cambridge by a country mile.

I've been in the Spoons in Cambridge, went in for breakfast then wandered the town for a few hours. We called in again on the way back to the station that afternoon and the same three guys were still sitting in the same place they were in the morning!
